💛💙 Happy Mother’s Day to Our Baxter Mums 💙💛

Today we celebrate the real MVPs of Baxter Cricket Club —
the mums who keep this whole place stitched together with love, snacks, sunscreen, and the kind of patience that deserves its own trophy.

To the mums who:
- Pack the bags, find the lost hats, and somehow know where every left sock is
- Drive to games, trainings, rep games, and the “quick detour” that is never quick
- Cheer the loudest, clap the longest, and pretend not to hear the sledging
- Bring oranges, Band‑Aids, emotional support, and occasionally half the team
- Love our players through wins, losses, golden ducks, and questionable shot selections

You are the heart of this club.
You’re the warmth on cold mornings, the calm in the chaos, and the reason so many of our players walk out feeling ten feet tall.

From all of us at Baxter:
thank you for everything you give, everything you carry, and everything you are.
We hope today you get a sleep‑in, a hot coffee, and at least one job you don’t have to do.

🌟 Baxter AGM — Monday 11 May, 7pm 🌟

Our club has always been built on something bigger than cricket — it’s built on people. On families who show up, volunteers who give their time, and a community that wraps around every player from Woolies to Seniors.

As we head into a new season, we’re inviting our Baxter family to help shape the future of the club we all love.

At the AGM, all committee and social committee positions will be declared vacant, and we’re looking for caring, committed, community‑minded people to step forward.

You don’t need special skills.
You don’t need years of experience.
You just need heart — and a willingness to help keep Baxter strong for the next generation.

Whether you can give a little or a lot, whether you’re a quiet helper or a natural organiser, there is a place for you here.

If Baxter has ever supported you or your family, this is a beautiful chance to give something back.

From our big, chaotic, wonderful community to yours, we’re wishing everyone a weekend filled with good company, good food, and chocolate that mysteriously disappears long before the kids wake up. (Strange how that happens every year…)

May your hot cross buns be warm, your egg hunts be competitive-but-not-too-competitive, and your hearts be full. Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends, teammates, or just enjoying a well‑earned break, we hope your Easter is safe, joyful, and full of the little moments that make life sweet.

A Baxter junior with talent to burn, Will has spent the last four years sharpening his craft at Ballam Park, picking up leadership stripes as skipper and growing into the well‑rounded player we always knew he’d become.

Some players leave.

And some players find their way back to where they belong.

🏏 AGM in May — A Call to Step Up

Our AGM is coming in May,
A moment to shape the club’s future, today.
A chance to stand up, to lead and to say:
“I’ll be the change — I won’t fade away.”

For volunteers are the lifeblood that keeps clubs alive,
The reason our teams and our juniors can thrive.
No magic, no mystery, no secret decree —
Just people who care, giving time willingly.

A committee’s the engine that drives every year,
The planners, the doers, the ones who appear
When the jobs pile up or the pressure runs high —
Without them, a cricket club simply runs dry.

So if you love this place and the people within,
If you want Baxter stronger when next season begins,
Then step up, lean in, help carry the load —
Be part of the team that keeps us in flow.

May’s not just a meeting — it’s our moment to choose
The future we build and the culture we’ll fuse.
Great clubs aren’t lucky; they’re built day by day…

💛💙 Baxter’s Summer Says “See Ya”

The sun packs up its toolkit
and leaves the Baxter sky,
the oval sighs dramatically
(yes, it’s that kind of guy).

The boundary rope is drooping
like it’s had a massive night,
and the pitch looks kind of haunted
in the early evening light.

The Razorbax are scattered,
off to jobs and chores and stress,
no one yelling “SHOT!” at nothing,
no one causing mild distress.

The pavilion’s way too quiet,
which feels deeply, deeply wrong —
even Rampage isn’t lurking
with a snack he stole from Long.

The canteen fridge is grieving,
it hums a mournful tune,
missing chips and dimmies sizzling
on a Saturday at noon.

Summer’s walking down the road now,
dragging warmth like old luggage,
and we’re left here on the oval
feeling feelings we won’t acknowledge.

But give it time — the grass will wake,
the chaos will return,
and Baxter’s heart will thump again
the moment stumps are firm.

And look — it’s only 188 days
‘till we’re back in full display,
not that anyone is counting
every sunrise on the way.
We’re totally calm and normal,
not marking X’s on a chart…
except we are, because next season
already lives inside our heart.

Till then we wait, we whinge, we pine,
we miss the wild melee…
because nothing hurts quite like the end
of a Baxter summer’s day.
