3 New Life Members
We proudly inducted three new Life Members at the Max Shields Medal / Presentation Night. You won’t find three more deserving people—each has given an enormous amount to the club over a long period of time.
⸻
Sharon Christides
What a year it has been for Shaz.
She led the Delacombe Park women’s team to premiership glory, and in doing so became the first female in the club’s history to be awarded Life Membership.
Shaz has served as both Vice President and Secretary across multiple seasons, but her greatest impact came as Junior Coordinator—a role she shared with her husband Andy. Together, they did an outstanding job developing the next generation of players and building a strong foundation for the club’s future.
Shaz was also instrumental in establishing the women’s program—quite simply, the team wouldn’t exist if not for her drive and determination.
She was also a major force behind the renovation of the clubrooms, refusing to take no for an answer when discussions with the council began.
⸻
Jonny Guthrie
Jonny arrived at Delacombe Park in 2005 and, aside from just a couple of seasons away, has been a mainstay ever since.
His on-field achievements are exceptional:
• Wicketkeeper in the Team of 50 Years
• 4× Max Shields Medallist
• 18/19 EG Betts Medallist
• Country Week representative
• Multiple batting awards, Team Champion awards, and Golden Gloves
Jonny also captained and coached the club for multiple seasons, playing a huge role in shaping the direction and culture of the playing group.
Beyond his playing career, he has helped develop many young players who have gone on to represent both Delacombe Park and the wider Frankston Peninsula.
His loyalty to the club has been remarkable, especially given the interest he’s received from larger clubs over the years.
⸻
Craig Blight
Craig’s journey with Delacombe Park dates back to the late 1980s, with a few stints elsewhere before returning home in the 2003/04 season.
A consistent middle-order batsman in the 1st XI for many years, Craig has also continued contributing in the lower grades. He has been part of four premierships during his time at the club.
However, Craig’s greatest contribution has come off the field. He served as Secretary for two seasons and then stepped into the Treasurer role for four seasons following the passing of club legend Geoff Lang—a role he handled with dedication and care.

A huge congratulations to all three of you. It was fantastic to be able to surprise you with such a well-deserved honour.
