Himiona boys were in action over the weekend at the Boxing WA U19’s State Titles. We were lucky enough to have Alex from Gillies Shearing and the whole crew from CKI Build in attendance. It was great to have you guys there.
First up was Cortez boxing a very skilled and well trained opponent. Both boys are natural counter boxers making for a very cagey, technical bout. Although it wasn’t Cortez at his best he definitely showed he can mix it up with the best in WA. We’re extremely proud of the work Cortez is putting in this season and his improvement is evident. πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›
Keon rematched his opponent from last month making the adjustments necessary to earn a clear victory in a very skilful bout.
Keon’s victory earning him a position in the WA team to compete at the National U19’s Tournament next month. Great achievement young man πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›

1 win 1 loss with 2 very good performances last night.
First up was Keon Himiona who managed to find a last minute bout. Keon boxed nicely using his feet well and punching beautifully off the ropes. In a very close bout against a well trained opponent the judges scored a 3-2 for his opponent. We just need to stamp a touch more authority on the performances moving forward young man, nice boxing. Well done Ethan and team it was a very nice skilful bout.
Next up we had Johnny Phillips having his 3rd bout in six weeks. It was the first time Johnny had more experience than his opponent. Johnny started the bout cautiously using his feet and long punches very well. Johnny settled towards the end of the round landing burst of clean punches earning a ko victory. Well done Josh and team, thank you for making the long trip from Kununurra.

This Anzac Day we had the privilege to compete in the WA Masters boxing tournament held at Seconds Out gym.
The time, effort, discipline and dedication required to compete cannot be underestimated especially when you’re working full time to provide for your family. All at a time in your life when you may have thought your sporting days are over. Massive respect to all who competed and all that trained their backsides off and didn’t get matched up.
We couldn’t be prouder of our to competitors Johnny Phillips and Louis Pitman. The work you guys have put in is truly inspirational.
The night ran in age order so Johnny was second up stepping into the ring for the second time. Johnny established the distance and controlled the early going before earning a second round ko win.
Because of running in age order Louis was in the second last bout of the evening. Lou stepped in for his first bout of the year and second overall. Lou was a bit eager early rushing his work but settled into the bout well. Lou’s opponent landed the cleaner punches across the bout with Lou dropping a decision after 3 tough rounds.
Lou’s improvement from his first bout cannot be ignored and showed the work he’s been doing is paying off.
Special thanks to Coach Amy who battled through the night midway through her pregnancy. Well done sis
As always thank you for all the support and thank you to our sponsors KLW Plan Protect ProsperOn a Roll Painting & Decorating

Ripper night for the flock at the Boxing WA special bouts at the Southwest Italian Club last night. Thank you to all involved in a great night of boxing.
We had an early start with Cortez Himiona in bout 2 of the afternoon. Cortez had his first bout in 12 months. Cortez controlled the distance used his feet extremely well Boxing his way to a clear win against a skilled opponent.
Not to be outdone Keon Himiona was up next and did not disappoint. In an exciting bout Keon’s footwork and speed proved to be too much. I can see these two boxing each other plenty over the years and we look forward to seeing their development.
Trustin Heperi stepped into the ring for his second bout for the club. Although Trustin didn’t have his best night against quite a tricky opponent we can see his development and training starting to show through more and more.
Johnny Phillips entered the ring for the first time. Johnny is one of our hardest workers and has developed into a leader that our younger boxers look up to. To see you finally get your chance made us extremely proud.
Johnny controlled the majority of the bout with his feet and long range boxing. A very good first up performance earning good solid win.
Thank you to all the supporters who showed out and as always thank you to our sponsors πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›

What a great way to wrap up the year! πŸ₯Šβœ¨

On Sunday we held our end-of-year function at the Eaton Bowls and Social Club, and it was such an awesome afternoon. A bit of sunshine, a bit of (questionable πŸ˜…) bowling technique, and a whole lot of laughs with our boxers, sponsors and families.

A huge congratulations to our award winners:

πŸ† Champion Boxer: Eduardo Hawkins
πŸ”₯ Most Improved & Hardest Worker: Johnny Phillips
🐺 WWCD: Lou Pitman

We’re so proud of each of you and everything you’ve achieved this year.

Thank you to everyone who came down, supported the club, and helped make the day such a fun, relaxed celebration.

Big thanks to our sponsors; KLW, CKI Build, Gillies Shearing, On a Roll Painting & Decorating, Knuckle Business Boxing for your ongoing support.
Also a should out to Lake Preston Beef for supplying the delicious wagu πŸ₯©

Bring on another big year for Black Swan Boxing!
