Advanced Youth Class spots are available for athletes aged 13–14.

For clarification advanced youth simply means prepering the athlete to be ready to perform.a comprehensive program. If your athlete is looking to hit the ground running this off season and hasnt done strength training before, this is the class for you!

We focus heavily on:

​Lifting Fundamentals: Mastering the mechanics of compound movements safely.
​Cementing Movement Patterns: Building the muscle memory required for explosive power and injury prevention.
Building buy in: Making the sessions fun and enjoyable and allowing strength training to become.a regular part of their busy schedules.
​Off-Season Readiness: We do the hard work now so that when the off-season hits, you can hit the ground running while others are still warming up.

​We offer small, focused classes of only 2–3 athletes to ensure personalized coaching:
​Monday: 3:40 PM
​Tuesday: 4:30 PM & 6:00 PM
​Wednesday: 4:30 PM & 5:40 PM (Female-only session)
​Thursday: 6:00 PM

Case Study: Shaving 0.189s off the 10m Sprint ⚡️

​We just clocked Ruby’s 10m acceleration at 1.923s, down from 2.112s. That’s a 9% jump in speed after 18 months of consistent work.

At 1.923s, Ruby is now in the top 5% of 16yo female athletes for this metric. In the South West, that is a massive competitive advantage.

​How did we do it? It wasn’t just about "running more." We used the data to build a personilised plan focused on:

​Cleaning up technique: We addressed "backside swing" and got her hips driving forward more efficiently.

​Building a foundation: Targeted work on the hips, groins, and core to make sure she can handle that extra power and continue to train.

​Year-round strength: Sticking to consistent cycles of building and then intensifying.
​In field sports like hockey, those first few steps are everything. It’s the difference between beating your player to the ball or being a step behind the play.

1.) Maintain Outputs, Reduce Volume:
​For your gym work focus on moving heavy loads with maximum intent while cutting back on total sets and reps. This keeps your central nervous system primed and your power high without accumulating the deep fatigue that hinders your field sessions.

​2. Speed Transitions to Speed Endurance:
​Hopefully by now you've built a solid speed base since October, it is now time to bridge the gap between "track speed" and "game speed". Shift your focus toward maintaining those top-end velocities over repeated efforts to ensure you’re still explosive in the fourth quarter.

​3. Incorporate Unpredictable COD:
​Purely pre-planned drills aren't enough; you need to react to external cues like a whistle or a partner's movement. Adding this reactive element improves your "game intelligence" and prepares your hamstrings for the chaotic, high-intensity changes of direction found in real match play.

​4. VO2 Max Repeats to Shuttle Runs:
​Transition from general repeat running capacity to game-specific endurance by swapping straight-line intervals for shuttles. The constant deceleration and acceleration in shuttle runs better mimic the metabolic demands and footwork required on game day.

​5. Taper Down Before Round 1:
​The hard work is in the bank, so now it’s about freshening up the legs to ensure you hit Round 1 with a full tank. Dropping the intensity slightly in the final week allows for "supercompensation," where your body fully recovers and reaches its peak athletic state.

In my coaching experience my J*P adolescant athletes who are easily squatting and deadlifting their own bodyweight are miles ahead of their competition with their 2km Time trials (6.30 - 7.00) - they're also the athletes who have been training with me for over a year.

Field and court based athletes need to be training with a concurrent model. An concurrent training model means we expose the athletes to a blend of different types of stimulus over the week to prepare the athlete for the range of physical demands they are going to be exposed to on game day eg Monday mobility + strength, Wednesday speed + endurance etc.

A sequential periodisation model is applicable for competition based athletes such as marathon runners and powerlifters where the task ex*****on is always the same. For that particular athlete it makes sense to the majority of their training the same as and/or revolving around that one particular task.

If you only ever jog 3-5 k'ers to prepare yourself for a footy season you are following a sequential periodisation model and won't be adequately prepared for the demands of game day, furthermore your aerobic endurance will improve to a point and then plateau..from that point you'll have to run longer and longer and for more days to get the same level of improvements - that's a lot of time spent for just one physical quality.

Bringing up qualities such as strength alongside endurance assists endurance as stronger muscles, ligaments and tendons help propel the athlete with each stride for an Improved running economy. A higher top speed in a game means you can move from point A to point B at a lower intensity which results in less demand on the anaerobic/aerobic energy systems when the pace of the game picks up. The list goes on - physical qualities lift and promote other physical qualities.

Repition 2.5 is a beauty of a method I picked up from one of my clients in the early days.

I find it particularly useful for calisthenic movements where its a little trickier to use load as a variable for adaption and sticking points are common eg, pull ups, push ups and inverted rows.

If you have been at it in the gym for a while and the gainz train is starting to slow down this method is for you ✅️

Method: record the maximum reps you can do to failure for your chosen exercise.

Multiply that by 2.5 eg 14 x 2.5 = 35 reps

Aim to hit a total of 35 reps for that exercise on the hour 2-3 times per week (however many sets and reps it takes).
