Beards, Bikes & Beers 🚵🍺

Next Sunday, 13 September, we’re getting together at Muratie for a morning of good trails, lekker company and a few stories in memory of Meurant Botha & JP van Zyl.

The main social ride will be around 20–30km, with plenty of singletrack and options to shorten or extend along the way. E-bikes welcome! (There are also shorter marked routes for those wanting an easier ride.)

Then it’s back to the Dirtopia Trail Centre for the fire, beer & boerie. Not riding? Come anyway – all old & new friends are very welcome to join us afterwards (probably from around 10.30/11am)

R100 includes your trail permit + beer + boerie.
Winelands permit holders & friends that just want a beer & boerewors roll: R50.
(and hikers/runners day permits remain R75pp as normal)

We do need to cater, so please book online rather than just arriving on the day.

🌿 ENTRIES ARE OPEN – SPRING TRAIL RUN! 🌿

One morning, two distances and access to trails you don’t normally get to run! The Spring Trail Run returns to Warwick Wine Estate on Sunday 27 September, with beautiful singletrack on the slopes of Klapmutskop specially opened for the event.

🏃 11km | 08h30

Expect a few good climbs through the vineyards, great views, medals for all finishers, refreshment stations, prizes and lucky draws – followed by coffee, wine or a burger under the trees at Warwick.

A few scenes from Sunday’s Into the Valley Trail Run 🌿

What a beautiful winter morning to be out in the Knorhoek Valley! The trails were looking fantastic, and it was lovely seeing runners spread out along the singletrack, through the vineyards and into the forest below Simonsberg.

Have you been on our trails on the neighbouring farm, Knorhoek yet?
It certainly is something to experience.

Sunday, 23 August the Into the Valley Trail Run routes will use them, but a 15km loop is permanently marked for mountain bikers. R100 day permit can be obtained at dirtopia Trail Centre.
Muratie’s trail network will remain open on Sunday for all trail users.

BEARDS, BIKES & BEERS 🍺🚵

Sunday 13 September marks one year since we lost Dirtopia founder Meurant Botha and his longtime friend JP van Zyl.

We're going to spend the morning doing something they both loved – riding bikes, hitting some good singletrack and then getting together around a fire for a beer, boerie and a few stories.

This is not a formal memorial ride. It's a celebration of two great characters, their friendship, the trails and the people they shared them with.

The main social ride will head towards NeverSayNeverEndingAgain, one of Meurant's signature trails and one he and JP rode together many times. There'll be shorter and longer options, e-bikes are welcome, and those who prefer an easier ride can follow the marked Green ABC routes.

And because bikes weren't their only passion, their car friends are very welcome too! You don't have to ride – come along afterwards for a beer & boerie and be part of the day.

We’ll be riding to NeverSayNeverEndingAgain trail on Sunday 2 August 8h30 and then have a beer & boerie.
Please book a ticket online so that we know you’ll be joining. R100 all inclusive with permit or R50 for W Regional holders.
