Dirtopia Trails at Muratie

Dirtopia Trails at Muratie Simonsberg trails are a joint initiative between Dirtopia & local landowners. Based on Muratie Farm. Day permits are R60 per person per day.

Since 1998, Dirtopia has been a key driver of the MTB industry through events, trail construction and profiling the sport. The Trail Centre continues this drive and is sure to enhance the fantastic Stellenbosch mountain bike trail opportunities even further. Simonsberg Trails

Annual permits for the Simonsberg trails are available at Dirtopia Trail Centre. This is for mountain biking or running or hiking. These are available at DIrtopia Trail Centre or from Muratie wine tasting centre from 09h00. Place: Current trail head at Muratie, R44 Stellenbosch Get your permits at Dirtopia Trail Centre. Trails: Ride/Run from 5km to 10km up to 26km – LOADS of singletrack with various options to ride - go play! Hiking trail of 3.5km with option of walking further. Groups that are keen to ride are welcome to contact us for more info & bookings. More information:
Trails are marked for a 7km singletrack experience on loop1 and there are various options to ride up to 26km (loop 3 & loop4 added). A map will be available at the trailhead. Muratie restaurant will be open for breakfast & lunch from Wednesday to Sundays. Don't forget the wine :-)


Trail Runners are welcome to enjoy the trails too – permits required as well. Remember to be friendly to all trail users and yield when required. IMBA Rules of the Trail apply as usual. Follow Dirtopia on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter for updates.

TRAILS ARE OPEN THIS SUNDAY 🌿🚵‍♀️🏃

We have the INTO THE VALLEY TRAIL RUN @ Dirtopia happening from the Trail Centre this Sunday, 23 August – but our regular Muratie trail network will remain OPEN as usual for mountain bikers and hikers.

The event runners will be heading away from the usual Muratie routes and into the Knorhoek Valley, using the Knorhoek loops before returning to the Trail Centre.

If you're not taking part in the event, you can still come and enjoy your usual Sunday morning on the Muratie trails at the normal day permit fee.

The Trail Centre will be open from early for permits, coffee, snacks and cold drinks plus a food truck for breakfast.
