PE Crusaders Rugby Club, affectionately known as Saders, was established in 1887. The club proudly lays claim to hosting the first ever rugby test in South Africa in 1891, where South Africa played against Great Britain, losing 0-4. As one of the oldest rugby clubs in South Africa, Crusaders surely ranks among the top South African clubs and remains a pillar of strength of Eastern Province rugby.

It has a rich history and a culture of playing the game hard and tough but always fair. Our Springbok’s, provincial players and all those who ever turned out for Crusaders, from the first team to the fourth and juniors, have turned this club into a monument. Those who play for the club in its 135th year are equally privileged to follow in those footsteps. Coaches, supporters, referees and many others played a role in this wonderful story. The club, however, would not have reached this milestone had it not been for our sponsors; all those business people, company executives and community leaders who made it possible for us to continue the work and the fun that began in 1887.

🏉 Calling All Crusaders Legends! 🏉

Dear fellow Crusaders,

As we prepare for our major club celebrations next year, we want to honour the rich history and proud legacy of Crusaders Rugby Club.

We’re looking for old Crusaders Rugby Club jerseys as well as old EP rugby jerseys that you would be willing to donate to the club. Our goal is to frame jerseys from different eras and create a special display that celebrates the players, teams, and unforgettable memories that have shaped our club over the years.

Every jersey tells a story. Whether it was worn in a championship season, a memorable derby, or simply represents a special moment in Crusaders’ history, we’d be honoured to preserve it for future generations to enjoy.

If you have a jersey tucked away in a cupboard or know someone who does, please consider donating it to this special project. Your contribution will become part of Crusaders’ history and a lasting tribute to everyone who has proudly worn our colours.
