5June: Wow – what a difference 24 hours can make! 🌧️🌊
The volume of water flowing down the Piesang River has dramatically increased, doubling the width of the river mouth since yesterday. The recent heavy rains continue to reshape the coastline, creating an impressive display of nature PlettenbergBay

4 June: The Piesang River is flowing strongly after the heavy rains we’ve experienced over the past few days. The increased water volume is carrying sediment and debris downstream, transforming the usually calm river into a powerful force of nature.

Some of the boats have moved to the front of Moby’s. Negotiating the sand bank, after the storm has been a challenge. Luckily we are able to launch once a day on the high tide. Great to finally be up and running again!

STORM EXPOSES WRECK IN PLETT: May 2026
The old wooden wreck sometimes exposed beneath the sand on Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay is believed to date back to the 1800s. Its exact identity remains unknown, but historians suggest it could be linked to the Agnes (1882), the Christina (1882), or another wooden coastal trading vessel lost in the bay.

Plett Storm 6 May 2026: OCEAN FOAM …. Interesting Fact.
During a storm the organic matter (decaying algae, plankton & fish faeces) acts a bit like soap in a washing machine.
The strong wave action whips air into the water, creating bubbles. Those bubbles added to the soap creates an enormous amount of foam.
