It’s time again for another RACATHON, the GREAT HERMANUS SPORTS CLUB RACATHON 2026.
• When: Friday 27th March
• Time: Instructions at 5.15 (important not to be late) Play starts at 5.30
What Happens:
This is an evening of fun and energy and fun and competition and fun and rivalry. All players play squash, tennis, padel, table tennis and darts. This time there is NO pickleball unfortunately.
The evening is run according to a schedule, each session being just 15 minutes long, with just a 3 minute break between sessions (though we try to give everyone a break or two in the evening.) Except for darts, each player has a partner that changes through the evening. Each player has their own score.
Random prizes will be awarded (for creative play, dress or similar).
Why are we doing this? It’s just a fun evening, for rivalry, social interaction and more fun. You do not have to be proficient in any of the sports, just prepared to have a go. (If you really do not want to be included in a particular sport, please let us know and we will not include you in the schedule for that sport.)
• Who: This is a combined HSC event, but entry is not restricted to HSC members – guests and friends are welcome. If we are over-subscribed, we will have to have a ‘cutoff’.
• Where: Play takes place on the various courts at HSC and in the events rooms.
• What must you bring: Essential – NON-MARKING SHOES for use on squash courts. Racquets for the various sports if you have. A sense of humour and a bag of fun.
• How to enter: In person – Judy at the club or Whatsapp her on 0762314597 or by email – [email protected] . All entries must be in by 6pm Weds 25th March (and payments made), but in the case that we reach our limit, entry may be closed before that date.
• How much: Entry fee is R120. This MUST be paid by 6pm Weds 25th March. This is essential to guarantee your entry as we cannot have the schedule wrecked by non-arrivals.
Please pay either to Judy, or EFT to Hermanus Tennis, FNB Acc no. 63158490474 - Reference – ‘Name + Racathon 2026’
All proceeds from the evening are once again going towards the automation of an irrigation system for the gardens at the club – which benefits us all.
• What can I eat and drink: As we did last time, we will provide you with a HOTDOG. There will be a limited number of ‘extra’ hotdogs available to hungry players to purchase. Also, Food and drinks will be available from the restaurant BOSSA.
Supporters, loud and noisy or just enthusiastic, are welcome!!
Kids may use the Bossa play area, or play on the allocated tennis courts.
