OFFICIAL STATEMENT – HERMANUS CRICKET CLUB

Hermanus Cricket Club wishes to clarify our position regarding the Mayoral Cup 2026 promotional poster circulated on social media.

The Club was not consulted, did not approve, and did not consent to the use of our name on the poster specially after we were not included in the tournament. We were approached approximately a month ago to “try and participate” in a short‑notice tournament, but due to prior commitments—we formally communicated that we would not be able to participate and suggested that the event be held in September as a pre‑season tournament, the tournament date was then set for 2nd of May never was communicated with us it would be 16th of May.

Despite this, our club name was included in promotional material without our knowledge prior to no other communication was made available to us.

Hermanus Cricket Club remains committed to supporting cricket development in the Overstrand Municipality region and looks forward to participating in properly planned and fairly communicated events in the future.

📣 Hermanus Cricket Club – AGM Announcement
📅 Date: 1 May 2026

As we conclude one of the most successful seasons in our club’s history, we would like to invite all members, players, supporters, and stakeholders to our Annual General Meeting on 1 May 2026.

This season has been nothing short of exceptional:

🏆 1st Team
• Promotion T20 League Champions
• 50 Over League Champions

🏆 2nd Team
• T20 League Champions
• 2nd Place in the 50 Over League

🏆 3rd Team
• Reached the Cape Winelands T20 Final

These achievements reflect the hard work, commitment, and passion of every player, coach, volunteer, and supporter who continues to push Hermanus Cricket Club forward.

Although we still hold the upper hand over Van der Stel CC in our long‑standing rivalry, we would like to extend our congratulations to them on being crowned Premier League Champions in both the T20 and 50‑over formats. Healthy competition drives the game, and we hope to be a strong challenge to all Premier League clubs in the seasons ahead.

The AGM will give us the opportunity to reflect, plan, and continue building on the momentum of this remarkable year. We encourage all members to attend and be part of shaping the future of our club. We sincerely hope to keep a few clubs on their toes like we are famous for, Hermanus Cricket Club is BACK.

🏏 Hermanus 1st Team Completes the Double supported by our Overstrand Municipal Mayor! 🏆

We were honoured to have Alderman Archie Klaase Mayor of Greater Hermanus in attendance, joined by the MMC for Sport in the Overstrand, Councillor Ronald Nutt, both showing their support for Hermanus Cricket Club on this special day.

Fresh off their 50 Over League victory, Hermanus Cricket Club’s 1st team has now added a second trophy to their cabinet — and this time, it was the bowlers who stole the show apart from Curtley Deelman who scored a brilliant 74runs.

Defending a modest total of 164, the Hermanus attack tore through the opposition, skittling them for just 41 runs in 11.5 overs. The bowling unit was ruthless:

- Leighton Dennis led the charge with a fiery 4 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs, delivering 17 dot balls.
- Curtley Deelman and Arno Pekeur each grabbed 2 wickets, conceding just 16 and 10 runs respectively in their 3 overs.
- Nichlas Wheeler was unplayable — 2 wickets for 0 runs in just 1.5 overs, with an economy of 0.00!

The fall of wickets tells the story: 10, 11, 12, 23, 24, 28, 34, 37, 41, and 41 — a complete collapse under pressure.

👏 With this dominant bowling display, Hermanus sealed the win and showcased the depth and firepower of their squad. A true team effort, and a proud moment for the club.

💙 Congratulations to all the players, management, and supporters. The Boland East T20 title is yours — and you earned it in style!

🏏 Champions of Boland East! 🏆

Hermanus Cricket Club’s 2nd team has clinched the Boland East B Promotion T20 League title in emphatic fashion, defeating Worcester by 46 runs in the final!

Batting first, Hermanus posted a commanding 110/4, powered by a composed 43 off 42 balls from Blake Ludick and a blistering 42 off just 21 from Niel Wyma. Their partnership set the tone for a confident innings, with Duhann Visser and Lionel du Toit adding quick runs at the death.

The bowlers then turned up the heat. Worcester were bundled out for 64, thanks to a fiery spell from Jonathan Deenik who claimed 4 wickets for 13 runs in his 3 overs. Darren Peters and Niel Wyma chipped in with 2 wickets each, while Donovan du Toit sealed the deal with a tidy for 7.

👏 A full team effort, with bat and ball, crowned by sharp fielding and cool heads under pressure. This win marks a proud moment for the club and a promising future for the 2nd team squad.

For the third year, the Boland Super League has brought together the best of Boland cricket — players, clubs, supporters, and partners — all contributing to something greater than the game itself.

With every season, the competition grows stronger.
With every match, new stories are written.

This is the legacy we are building for Boland cricket, Hermanus Cricket also lucky to have assisted in streaming with these great bunch of people and still learning.
