Lady Harlequin steps up in style

A fantastic day at Turffontein racing with a happy bunch, some of whom are new to the game. A first winner for Lady Harlequin. Runner-up in three starts to date, here's hoping she goes on from here.

The daughter of What A Winter is owned by Craig Felix, Devan Govender and Harlequin Rugby Club with Ben Eybers as the nominee. Thanks for bringing such a new crew to the sport. We loved spending the day with so many connections. I hope everybody is enjoying it and this win stays forever. The R100 000 BSA win bonus also goes down well. She was bred by Beaumont Stud.

Thanks to Champion Jockey elect Craig Zackey for the belief in this filly. He rode her to victory.

At last Power Of Pearls exits the maidens

Now from 11 runs, 10 places and an elusive win, hopefully this talented filly has the confidence to kick on after taking to the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack like a duck to water.

Enflame completes the Highveld stayers double in his customary style.

The son of Irish Flame, the only one Racing today has now won six times including two Listed features. He does it on his terms. Owned by Larry Nestadt, Cecil Millinger and Paul Marks, this guy seals more silverware. He was bred by Tawny Syndicate.

The crowd at Turffontein on Day 4 of the Championships grasped everytime he dropped further behind. Many peoples play on the card, Enflame needed all the convincing from Serino Moodley to pick up the bit. He is a remarkable Character. Thank you Serino.

With six runners at the track, all hit the boards. Four filled a runner-up finish. We could not be happier. Now, onto KZN Champions Season.

Doesyourmotherknow produces a gutsy win

There was a lot to like about how Doesyourmotherknow overcame a big challenge from the runner-up but the daughter of Master Of My Fate stuck to her task.

She was given a great ride by Craig Zackey who kept her balanced, settled and focused. Well done for win 200 later in the card.

She is owned by an enthusiastic partnership, many of whom are new to the yard or even new to Racing. Rajin and Mala Naidoo, Ryan Atchanna (first ever winner), Jared Burnard, Mayesh Chetty, Grant Knowles, Sterling Miller (congrats for your marriage), Des Pather, Floyd Toweel and TCP Enterprises (Pravin and Mrs Chetty). She was bred by Varsfontein Stud.

She also qualified for the R100 000 bonus courtesy of BSA.

Enflame had many supporters in the race and he typically stressed everybody out with his running style. Once Serino Moodley wakes him up, he quickens at the drop of a hat. Thanks to Serino for the ride.

The son on former SA Derby winner, Irish Flame, he was bred by Tawny Syndicate. A huge thanks and well done to Larry Nestadt, Cecil Millinger and Paul Marks for the support.

Minogue ran a superb race in the Grade 1 TAB Empress Club Stakes beaten by a superstar in the form of Double Grand Slam. 2nd felt like a win. The entire day was wonderful at Turffontein. So many good vibes at Champions Day.

Chronicle King shows his class

With an eye on Champions Season in Durban, Chronicle King returned from a mini break to beat a good field off top weight at the Vaal.

Son of Champion Sire, Vercingetorix, he led from start to finish in his first run over 1700m which was no mean feat. Well done and thank you to John Finlayson, the owner. Your support is appreciated. He was bred by Narrow Creek Stud. Well done to John Everett.
