University of the Free State Netball

The annual UFS Staff Netball Day was held on Friday 19 June 2026.

17 Teams participated consisting of staff from various departments.

Everyone brought their A-game, fun was had and friendships formed.

Prison Ponies walked away with the gold in the mixed division with Control, Alt, Defeat in the silver position and DSA Blended with the bronze.

In the Women division, Fusion Squad took the golden honors followed by NHLS Stars with silver and Financial Attackers with bronze.

Shoutout to the organisers, the KovsieNetball ladies for umpiring, the score-keepers and of course all the teams who made the day something to remember!

USSA TEAM 2026 ANNOUNCED

KovsieNetball had the privilege to announce their 2026 USSA Netball Team Top 12 for 2026 at a Big Brag Event hosted on campus.

Amongst the special guests were the Director of KovsieSport, Arts & Culture Mr. Jerry Laka and former KovsieNetball players by the likes of Karla Pretorius, Maryka Holtzhausen, Sne Mdletse and Fifi Nketsa.

Congratulations to all.

KovsieNetball Intervarsity

Fun was had as CUT Bloem, CUT Welkom, SOL, Qwaqwa kampus, South Campus and IIE Rosebank College took part in a day filled with Netball.

The purpose of the day was to create more playing opportunities for surrounding universities and colleges.
