With the rain gifting us a brisk and cool day the racers gathered with prepped tires and lazer focus to tackle the track and other racers in the unrelenting hunt for maximum points! The grip was off the charts after the rains and all the classes were ready to put in laps that would defy what is possible. The On Road layout was fast and flowing with only the back straight giving the steering a breather. The Off Road layout had racers trying all manner of lines, braking points and speeds to shave time off the laps. It was tricky and very challenging! Here are the results of the day per class:

Tamiya M-Chassis
1) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya M-05
2) Emil Beckmann - Tamiya M-05
3) Ewan Koen - Tamiya MB-01
The class had 11 cars on the grid, the first time more than 10 cars were in a heat, and the on track action was thick and fast! The Race Director made the call for a reverse grid start on the first heat and that threw a spanner in the works. After the qualifiers were done Ryno, Emil and Ewan lined up for an epic battle! Ryno walked away with the way too close for comfort win, Emil was sharing the same space on the track lap after lap and took 2nd. Ewan was the first racer to put a new MB-01 on the podium, his setup and effort showing with a solid day with a 3rd.

VRX Octane XL Buggy
1) Nico Jonker - VRX Octane XL
2) Johan Truter - VRX Octane XL
3) Jc Smit - VRX Octane XL
The new class is steadily gaining momentum and the grid is starting to look like it will by hitting double digits soon! Nico came out of nowhere with his brand new car (he took delivery of it on Friday before the race) and hit the first place out of the park with clean driving and consistency. In 2nd place was Johan, he and JC in 3rd having some hectic battles during the day! This class is one to watch, the cars are very evenly matched and the handling is interesting with the big wheels.

2wd Buggy
1) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated B6.3
2) Brian Botha - XRAY XB2
3) Ewan Koen - Team Associated B6.3
The challenging track layout caught a few racers out, the day was there for the taking with flawless laps and consistency. Ryno hangs on to his unbeaten streak with his win but Brian was pushing his XRAY into strange positions and mounted a very strong challenge during the day to take the 2nd spot. In 3rd and within striking distance, waiting for the two in front to tangle or make mistakes, was Ewan. His consistency earning him a hard fought podium spot.

Short Course Truck
1) Christoff Meyer - Team Associated SC6.4
2) Ewan Koen - Team Associated SC6.2
3) Martin Deysel - Team Associated SC6.4
Christoff came in with wild slides and intent to secure his points lead, but the day was interwoven with massive battles with Ewan and Martin. Ewan kept his composure during all the runs and walked away with a 2nd place with battle scars to show for it. Martin with his 3rd place was pushing himself and the SC6.4 beyond what reason could manage, his skill level and nerve is increasing with each run against the more experienced war horses. The whole class was made up of battles for places up and down the grid, massively entertaining to watch!

Tamiya Stock Touring
1) JC Smit - Tamiya TT-01E
2) Francois Benade - Tamiya TT-01E
3) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT-01E
With the Championship Points leader JC coming in to the day very confident he kept his head down and kept on slamming in fast laps to wrestle the 1st place into submission. In an alarmingly fast 2d place was Francois, his yellow Mercedes easy to spot as he was punishing his tires! In 3rd place was Nico, he was doing more than enough to take the last spot on the podium.

21.5 Spec Touring
1) Sj Coetzer - Team Associated TC7.2
2) Brian Botha - Team Associated TC8
3) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated TC8
The Team Associated racers were pushing hard to take all the spots on the podium, and did they produce! SJ was using a TC7.2 and made the extended chassis development time count as the claimed the top spot. Brian was snapping at his heels the whole day with a 2nd. Ryno was a bit off the pace with parts testing but could hold on to 3rd.

The day showcased the passion and drive the RARC racers have for the racing and the community. Quite a few racers and regulars could not make it due to commitments with work, next month is going to be extra hectic as the racers push even harder to make up points. Entries for track events was brushing 70, the goal of 80 entries in a month is very close! The Race Shop is always looking for ways to evolve and grow the hobby, crawling and racing. As always, STAY RADIO ACTIVE!

The RARC Off Road Shoot Out was held this past Sunday, and what a hectic event it was! The Track Crew built a very tricky four jump rhythm section and a deceptive corner lift jump that only covers a half of the racing surface. The rhythm section had some racers questioning their life choices in the first round and the "Half Jack" corner lift jump had a few racers choosing the safer option and avoiding it completely by taking the wide line. There was also a drop off jump and a ski jump that is usually combined for a table top. The event showed that the racers with off road experience had less adapting to do. Roll on to the second round and everybody got into a groove and the Hot laps started to drop, close battles were the order of the day. As the third round started the heavens opened up and flooded the track in a matter of minutes! As two rounds were completed the racers were happy to accept results. Unfortunately there are no podium pictures as the rain was unrelenting. Big thanks to the racers that helped remove the jumps from the track in record speed! Here are the results per class, and the overall winner:

2wd Buggy
1) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated B6.3
2) Juan Lappies Labuschagne - Team Associated B6.2
3) Ewan Koen - Team Associated B6.3
Ryno continued his unbeaten streak and let his off road experience count on the day. Lappies in 2nd kept a level head and kept his lines clean to bag a podium, Ewan was pushing to the max and netted a well deserved 3rd spot.

Short Course Truck
1) Brian Botha - XRAY SCX
2) Dawid Johannes Liebenberg - Traxxas Slash
3) Ewan Koen - Team Associated SC6.2
Current SCT Champion Brian made adjustments to his truck and concured the setup and track taking a win! DJ with his now notoriously modified Slash held nothing in reserve and smashed a 2nd place, Ewan was doing his consistent thing and held on to 3rd with many on track battles!

VRX Octane 4wd Buggy
1) Ryno Pienaar - VRX Octane XL
2) Charles Bastone - VRX Octane XL
3) Jc Smit - VRX Octane XL
This one make series is dishing up some wild action! With all the chassis, bodies and tires being standard it comes down to race craft and calculated chance taking. Ryno was on the throttle the most during the day and took the 1st, the battle for 2nd place between Charles and JC was a nail biting affair with Charles doing enough to hold on to 2nd and JC the 3rd.

With the monthly Championship Points Race happening (weather permitting) this Sunday the 19th of April the tires are still going to be warm to hit the track! As always, Stay Radio Active!

The RARC Race and Track Crew would like to say a big thank you to all the racers, crawl heads and spectators for another epic month of RC action! From the young and new racers stepping up to the plate, the older war horses tuning till late in the evenings for a split second advantage, the lively crawl group for pitching up at all the events this month. The Championship Points Races are a highlight in the racing calender, the crawling events area serious work out for the calves and laughing muscles and the unique events are all a blast! For a city the size Bloemfontein is and the location its amazing that the RC community is this alive and strong. On to April with a Off Road Shoot Out with the new jumps and rhythm section, another Championship Points Race and a crawler trail walk thrown in for good measure. But now you should know, Stay Radio Active!

RARC Rally Event! With the event being canceled due to rain, the skies cleared earlier than expected and the racer were all eager to get the show going! With a bit of delay with the start there was a lot of banter and setup help in the pits, the RC Racing community of Bloemfontein pulling their weight and then some. With a very tricky track layout curtesy of a creative Race Director (some say you can still hear him laughing) the stage was set! Here is what happened in each class:

Tamiya Stock Rally
1) Jc Smit - Tamiya TT01E
2) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT01E
3) Johan Truter - Tamiya TT01E
The local Tamiya Stock hot shot JC was the target of all in the class, his unbeaten streak still ongoing. Nico mounted the hardest charge, pipping JC to the line a few times during the day. When all was said and done JC pulled a 1st for the day and Nico a hard won 2nd. Brand new racer Johan taking part in his first race was pushing his tires and physics to breaking point all day long, testing the bulletproof reliability of the Tamiya TT01E platform along the way. Johan walked away with a nail biting 3rd on the day.

Rally X B-Main
1) Jacques Boucher - SNRC R3
2) Divan Jonker - SNRC R3
3) Wean Jonker - SNRC R3
The Jonker boys threw everything including the kitchen sink in to get to Jacques, with some spectacular passes (and attempted passes), skids and interesting line choices. When the tires stopped protesting it was Jacques who romped into 1st, Divan and his well known red Scirocco 2nd and new racers Wean in 3rd. This was Wean's second race meeting and he is learning the ropes rather quickly!

Rally X A-Main
1) Dawid Johannes Liebenberg - Yokomo RS1.0
2) Janco Dreyer - SNRC R3
3) Jan Dreyer - RARC T25
This was a race inside a race. With father and son duo Janco and Jan having an inside battle and then trying all manner of things (motor swops included) to catch DJ with his well sorted Yokomo. At the end when all the points were tallied DJ took the 1st with young racers Janco taking a 2nd and his dad Jan in 3rd. Janco had a big smile at prize giving!

4400 Buggy Unlimited
1) Ryno Pienaar - VRX Octane XL
2) JC Smit - VRX Octane XL
3) Charles Bastone - VRX Octane XL
Now this was something to behold. As a new class there were a lot of questions. Will the buggies be able to properly race, will they handle the new rhythm section of four kicker jumps in a row, will there be action with the open wheel format? Yes, yes and YES! The Race Director went out of his way with a super tricky layout, a step down table top jump right in front of a corner, a ski jump leading into the straigh and the now infamous rhythm section! Ryno, with his years of dirt off road racing experience, took a 1st for the day. The battle for 2nd was heated between JC and Charles, the jumps and layout proving very testing and they had a few tangles over the new sections. JC hanging on to the 2nd place and Charles netting the 3rd.

With a much more relaxed atmosphere the Rally events are a favourite among the racers competing, and the race format that is unique to RARC the on track action caused most of the racers to walk off the driver's stand a bit white in the cheeks accompanied by a rattle of two. A great day of RC Racing was had by all. Now it's a bit of a break with the school holidays and Easter Weekend approaching. Race dates for April are:
12th April 2026 - Event to be decided
19th April 2926 - Championship Points Race
And as always, Stay Radio Active!

And here we go! The second Rally event at RARC for 2026! After the first event turned out to be very popular with the super unique and exciting racing format the entries have climbed substantially for this second event! Classes will be Tamiya Rally with a very strict rule set that promote cost friendly racing, RallyX with very relaxed rules that allow a lot of horsepower and big slides. Then the brand new class that is sure to raise pulses of the racers and spectators, Octane 4400 Buggy Unlimited! Live axle with trailing arms in the rear, big 2.2 inch wheels and a 4wd divetrain. This is the only class for the day that will have big jumps and a new addition, a rhythm section! With the long travel suspension and more than enough horsepower the class is sure to grow. Spectators are always welcome to witness the Rally madness at RARC!

With RC Racing spreading like wildfire the RARC Race Crew once again saddled up the horse to host another incredible race day! The layout was fast, lots of sweeping corners and one very technical section slap bang in the middle of the track. Here is how the day went down per class:

Tamiya M-Chassis B Main
1) Ewan Koen - Tamiya MB01
2) Francois Benade - Tamiya M05
3) Jacques Boucher - Tamiya M05
Ewan is starting to get the setup dialed on his new generation MB01, showing a clean pair of heels to Francois in 2nd and Jacques in 3rd. Getting a new platform up to race pace is a challenge and Ewan is getting it done!

Tamiya M-Chassis A Main
1) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya M05
2) Emil Beckmann - Tamiya M05
3) Shawn Truter - Tamiya M05
Emil was sporting a VW Karmann Ghia body with a legendary paint scheme, best looking body on the track by far! Ryno and his M05 were on point with speed and consistency for the day, knocking out a 1st place with Emil not too far behind in 2nd place and a storming day by Shawn to nab the 3rd.

Tamiya Stock Touring
1) Jc Smit - Tamiya TT01E
2) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT01E
3) Francois Benade - Tamiya TT01E
Keeping his unbeaten run going strong was JC, netting the top spot for the day, but he did not have it all his own way. Nico in 2nd spot was all over him like a wetsuit on a surfer. With a tie in points after the finals the finishing result was decided by the qualifiers result. In a convincing 3rd place was Francois, his bright yellow Mercedes doing consistent laps.

Short Course Truck B Main
1) Janco Dreyer - PR Racing SC201
2) Nico Jonker - Team Associated SC10V2
3) Frans Benade - Traxxas Slash
Janco being one of our junior drivers lined up in the B Mains after some questionable starts in the qualifiers and then putting his head down to push his PR Racing truck into a 1st. 2nd was Nico, he was pushing the limits of what a SCT suspension can handle the whole day. In 3rd place was our youngest racers, Frans taking his Slash into a well deserved 3rd place while keeping out of trouble and racking up the laps.

Short Course Truck A Main
1) Christoff Meyer - Team Associated SC6.4
2) Dawid Johannes Liebenberg - Traxxas Slash
3) Martin Deysel - Team Associated SC6.4
This was the hardest battle of the day by far. DJ and his highly modified Slash took TQ by the skin of his teeth. The group of seriously fast A Main drivers lined up for the finals and the excitement was high! Christoff kept the cooler head in the first final and took a win, the second final was a show of speed and sportsmanship that would rival a world championship! Christoff and DJ were pushing each other till the bitter end, corner after corner of side by side racing, rubbing bodies and tires in a bid to secure even the smallest of advantages. You know that when the crowd give an applause after a race it was thick and fast! Christoff got both hands on 1st and DJ took the 2nd and Martin having a fight on his hands for the 3rd.

2wd Buggy
1) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated B6.3
2) Brian Botha - XRAY XB2
3) Christoff Meyer - XRAY XB2
This was a showdown between the Team Associated and XRAY racers, Ryno going into the day unbeaten for 2026 with his hybrid Team Associated Buggy and having a big target on his back. Brian and Christoff trying every line and tactic to gain some ground. After the dust had settled Ryno has kept his unbeaten streak with both XRAY drivers closing up the gap to him, Brian in 2nd and Christoff in 3rd. The rest of the year is going to be very interesting!

21.5 Spec Touring
1) Brian Botha - Team Associated TC8
2) Sj Coetzer - XRAY T4
3) Christoff Meyer - Express XQ3
The class was jam packed with fast racers for the day, and small mistakes were brutally punished! Brian and his TC8 mounted the challenge and stormed into a 1st place with pin point precision driving and consistency. In 2nd place and pulling some hard core laps was SJ, he was using and older generation T4 platform. In 3rd place was Christoff with his XQ3, some carefully chosen lines to nab the 3rd.

The level of commitment, speed and setup skills is once again in the spotlight at RARC. The racers are stepping up to the plate in a big way! With new racers coming in the growth is still well underway, the RC community is a living entity with help and parts a normal occurrence in the pit. Outside of the track the RC crawling scene is also on the up and up! With the VRX Octane multi surface chassis starting to be seen all over and a new class just for them another avenue of RC goodness has opened up. RARC Raceway and Race Shop is on hand to give advice and support every step of the way! And as always, Stay Radio Active!
