💚 A LITTLE LOVE FOR OUR SUMMER CREW

As the days get a little shorter and some of our summer crew head back to school, we want to take a minute to say THANK YOU.

From busy mornings and league nights to keeping carts moving and helping with all the little things that happen behind the scenes, our summer staff has been a big part of keeping ZGC running all season long. We appreciate everything they’ve done! ⛳

As our crew gets a little smaller heading into September, we’re asking our golfers for one small favor:

When you finish your round, please take a quick look through your cart and toss any cans, bottles, wrappers or other garbage before turning it in. 🗑️

It takes less than a minute, but when a whole line of carts comes back at once, those minutes add up quickly.

A little help from everyone goes a long way for the crew keeping things moving. 💚

And to our summer staff heading back to school — thank you for spending part of your summer with us. We appreciate you and wish you a great school year! 📚⛳

Judging by our taste-testing crew, this week’s pizza special passed inspection. 😂🍕

With area kids heading back to school this week, there’s already enough to think about. Backpacks, school supplies, earlier bedtimes, alarm clocks… let us take dinner off the list.

No bunkers. No water. No official hazards.

Sounds friendly enough, right? 😉

Hole #7 would like you to know there’s a catch.

Your tee shot plays uphill, so choosing the right club matters. Find the green and you’re in great shape.

Miss left? There’s only a thin layer of trees between you and the houses beyond.

Send it long? You may be introducing yourself to the neighbors.

And right?

She’s gone. 😂

It may only be 121–142 yards, but #7 is a good reminder that a short par 3 doesn’t necessarily mean an easy par.

💚 A Little ZGC Appreciation

Some of the things that make Zumbrota Golf Club special have nothing to do with a scorecard.

Over the years, members have quietly given their time and talents to help care for and beautify the spaces around the course — planting, tending, improving and simply stepping in when they see something that needs a little love.

It’s the kind of work that can easily go unnoticed because much of it happens without any fanfare. But it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Those extra touches are part of what makes ZGC feel like more than just a place to play golf. They reflect a community of people who genuinely care about this place and take pride in seeing it look its best.

To everyone who has volunteered their time, pulled a w**d, planted a flower, cared for a garden, helped with a project or contributed in ways most of us may never even know about — thank you. 💚

Only 300 tickets are available for Zumbrota Golf Club’s $15,000 Cash Raffle — and 30 winning tickets will be drawn.

That means once the drawing starts, somebody wins cash every five minutes for 2½ hours.

⛳ WEDNESDAY WISDOM

What do those numbers on your irons actually mean?

If you’re newer to golf, all those numbers in the bag can feel like somebody forgot to include the instruction manual.

3…4…5…7…8…9… which one are you supposed to hit?

The basic idea is simple: lower-numbered irons generally have less loft and are designed to travel farther with a lower trajectory. As the numbers go up, loft generally increases and shots become shorter and higher.

But seasoned golfers, this part is for you too: the number stamped on the bottom isn’t the whole story.

A 7-iron isn’t necessarily the same loft from one set to another — and today’s irons aren’t necessarily the same as the ones you played years ago. What matters more than the number is knowing how far YOU actually carry each club.

And if your 6-, 7- and 8-iron are all going suspiciously similar distances? You may have a gapping issue worth figuring out.

So whether you’ve been golfing six weeks or thirty years, the lesson is the same:

Know your distances, not just your club numbers. ⛳

⛳ MONDAY HOLE SPOTLIGHT: #4

Back to the front nine this Monday — Hole 4 is up.

The view from the tee doesn’t quite tell the whole story. You’ll clear the creek right away, but then you’re playing uphill for roughly the first half of the hole — with no view of the flag from the tee.

Get to the top and the rest of #4 finally reveals itself, including the green with bunkers guarding both sides.

So, we’re giving Hole 4 a report card.

A — I like this hole.
B — Usually treats me pretty well.
C — We have a complicated relationship.
D — Bad things have happened here.
F — I’d rather not talk about it. 😂
