Grateful and Blessed to have shared my entrepreneurial story with Delone Catholic’s Business & Leadership class on Tuesday.
Going into the Fall of 2012, I was a senior on the cross-country team.
Throughout my athletic career at Delone, I lacked the mental skills necessary to succeed in life.
I had very little confidence, grit, fortitude, focus, or discipline.
I had no idea what I wanted my life to look like in 10 years.
I had no vision.
What I did have was a coach who BELIEVED in me.
He instilled so much belief in me that I was inspired to double my training discipline.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I was creating the training framework for what I use with all of my athletes, entertainers, and executives today.
Going into that Fall season, the coaches were announcing the captains.
Then Coach Scotty Watt said the unthinkable.
“Kody has the least amount of natural athletic ability I have ever seen...”
Funny to think that a guy is too unathletic to even be a decent runner.
“Kody is also one of the most mentally tough people I have ever seen. That’s why he is going to be one of your captains.”
That was the greatest compliment I ever received.
I didn’t care about the captain status.
I cared that someone believed I had a positive impact on the team.
The work WORKS.
Feels great to give back to the institution that launched my career before I ever knew it.
The BEST Is Yet To Come
