Since the day we opened our doors at D-BAT YAKIMA, the support from this community has meant everything to us. From the families who have trusted us with their athletes, to the kids putting in the work every week, to the relationships we’ve built along the way, we don’t take any of it for granted.

We truly believe Yakima Valley deserves a place like this. A facility where athletes can develop, compete, and grow both on and off the field.

While D-BAT YAKIMA is part of a national franchise, it is locally owned and operated and was built right here in this community, for this community.

With that said, we want to be real with you.

Like many small businesses, we’re feeling the effects of rising costs and inconsistent usage. While we have a strong membership base, we’ve seen a trend that’s common in communities like ours. People sign up with great intentions, but over time, visits become less frequent. The reality is businesses like ours depend on consistent use and engagement to stay healthy.

We’re not going anywhere today. But we are at a point where continued community support and consistent usage truly matter.

If D-BAT YAKIMA has been valuable to you or your athlete, the best way to support us is simple. Show up, get your reps in, book lessons, and make this place part of your routine.

When you need gear, please consider supporting local instead of big box stores.

Our goal has always been bigger than just cages and machines. We want to be a place that helps athletes grow, families connect, and this baseball and softball community thrive.

We’re committed to Yakima Valley. And we’re hopeful Yakima Valley continues to be committed to us.

Thank you again for being part of what we’ve built here.

D-BAT YAKIMA

I’m going to say something that youth sports parents hate hearing.

Your kid might not be that good.

And that’s okay.

Not every 10-year-old throwing 57 mph is the next college All-American.
Not every kid dominating at 12 is going to dominate at 18.

But somewhere along the way youth sports turned into this weird arms race where every kid is being marketed like a future D1 commit before they’ve even hit puberty.

Private lessons.
Travel teams.
Showcases.
Recruiting talk at 13.

Meanwhile half these kids are burnt out before high school.

Here’s the part people don’t want to hear:

The best athletes usually aren’t the ones being overhyped at 11.

They’re the ones who are still in love with the game at 17.

Still working.
Still competing.
Still hungry.

Youth sports shouldn’t be about building the next Instagram highlight reel.

It should be about building athletes who don’t quit when the game gets hard.

And trust me…

That usually shows up way later than everyone thinks. 🔥

💥Message from anonymous college coach:💥
I was at a recruiting tournament this weekend and the things that made me walk away from games where I was watching kids I was interested in recruiting were:
1. Parents screaming from the sidelines at umpires and girls on the field (including their own child).
2. Kids leaving the dugout. Running to their parents during the game and talking about coaching decisions, umpires, and asking for special treatment and snacks during the game from their parents. (This might sound harsh, but I don’t want a kid who runs to their parents and complains about everything and needs to be coddled during the game).
3. Dirty looks towards umpires and talking back to umpires.
4. Inability to recover after a strikeout, hard inning, or call they didn’t agree with.
5. Lack of hustle. Walking everywhere and talking back to coaches or treating teammates disrespectfully.
We recruit the family and the athlete. We recruit attitude and effort. We recruit athletes who can recover after failure and push through mistakes. We recruit athletes that keep working hard when things get hard or when a play or call doesn’t go their way. We recruit grit and athleticism, mixed with knowledge of the game. We recruit kids who don’t give up and blame others for their circumstances. We recruit kids who run out pop-ups and don’t give up on the play. We recruit kids who recover! We recruit kids who lead! We recruit kids who want to COMPETE!
If you want to be recruited, be present for every play and every action performed on the field. You never know who’s watching in the stands.
