Today, a crew showed up and built something from nothing — and the effort started a day early because that’s just who we are. Special shout out to all y’all who showed up. That rig didn’t put itself up, and neither does a legacy.

Today is not about it being perfect. It’s not about the time you complete it in or even the amount of reps you choose to do. Today is about our effort extending the legacy of the best of us — the men and women of our nation who gave their lives.

With every rep completed, that legacy lives on.

We’ll see you at The Outskirts. 3-2-1 Go at 10:30. Anyone can participate. Anyone can come. 🇺🇸

Tried to film a clean Murph breakdown. Ended up with dual view mode, Zach actually working, and me making goblin faces the whole time. Posting it anyway. 🤷‍

The workout:
🏃 1 Mile Run
100 Pull-Ups
200 Push-Ups
300 Air Squats
🏃 1 Mile Run

Named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy — a true American hero.

Partition it however you want. Do less volume. Use whatever pull-up situation is near you and be a good neighbor about it. No snobs allowed. 🤝

We’re starting at 10:30am — come early to warm up. And this is open to everyone, so bring whoever you want. The more the merrier. 🙌

But real talk — it’s easy to get lost in the reps and forget why we’re here. Murph is a chance for someone’s name and legacy to live on through our effort. That’s what makes CrossFit special to us.

I dropped the ball on the Murph plug. We’ll circle back on that.

But since a good chunk of us will be enjoying a cold one after the workout on May 25th, I figured I should go talk to the guy who actually makes it.

Meet Tyler, the brewer at The Outskirts. He studied brewing at Central Washington University, and when the opportunity came up to be part of a startup he jumped at it without looking back.

His favorite part? Standing behind the bar, looking out at that beautiful patio, and watching people genuinely enjoy something he poured everything into. From the very first step of the process to the moment it hits your glass — he loves all of it.

Honestly, that kind of passion is hard not to respect. And it makes that post-Murph beer taste just a little bit better.

He was on vacation when he got the call. He almost said no.

Then he saw the place.

Derek, the GM of The Outskirts, heard from the ownership group just how much heart and soul went into building what they have out there — and he couldn’t walk away from that. His favorite part? The people. Sound familiar?

That’s exactly why we’re bringing Murph there.

This Memorial Day we’re honoring Lieutenant Michael Murphy the way he deserves — together, outside, as a community.

Doing Murph is not a requirement. Doing all of Murph is not a requirement. Showing up is. We’ll have ergs, bands, and rings so we can scale for everyone. After the workout there will be food, drinks, games, and plenty of fun for the kids too.

Oh — and the event is free. The beer is not. Plan accordingly.

Sarah’s Double Down Journey officially started last week.

After Foundations, Sarah walked into her first class ready to do hard things. She came to chat with me because convenience had been running the show for a while, and after a season of grief, she knew something had to change.

That first conversation wasn’t about perfection. It was about support, a plan, and having people in your corner. Now she’s here for the long game: showing up, building strength, and earning the life she wants one class at a time.

This is what community looks like. This is what momentum looks like.

🎉 Member Spotlight: Lori!🎉

If you’re at Double Down CrossFit at 9am on any day that ends in Y, you’ll find our incredible member Lori crushing it! 💪

We asked Lori what brought her to Double Down, and she shared that she was doing Pilates and yoga but was looking for something more challenging to push her as an athlete. Well, she definitely found that here! 🔥

But what keeps Lori coming back day after day? Simple: FAMILY. That’s what Double Down CrossFit is all about. ❤️

And if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, Lori just took FIRST PLACE in a competition this past weekend! 🏆 She’s incredibly deserving of this achievement, and we couldn’t be more excited for her!
