The President of FECAFOOT made a strong announcement on Friday, June 5, during the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement between the Cameroon Football Federation and betPawa at the federation's headquarters in the Warda district of Yaoundรฉ.
Speaking to the press, Samuel Eto'o stated:
"By the end of this mandate, one of my final decisions will be to appoint only women to lead our women's national teams."
The statement comes at a time when efforts are being made to strengthen and promote women's football in Cameroon. The ceremony marked the official launch of betPawa's dressing-room bonus sponsorship program for the FECAFOOT Women's Football League, a partnership aimed at improving the welfare of players in the Guinness Super League.
Under the agreement, betPawa will invest a total of 75.9 million CFA francs in Cameroon's top-tier women's championship. The documents were signed by Mrs. Cรฉline Eko, First Vice-President of the Federation and representative of the league.
The most significant innovation of the partnership is the "Locker Room Bonus" system. For every match won, each of the 20 players listed on the match sheet, as well as three members of the coaching staff, will receive a direct payment ranging from $30 to $50.
