Ten days until we're back on site with National Sixes.

September 26, Troy Park in Elkridge, Fall Series. Every athlete who tested with us in July gets retested on the same battery under the same conditions, and they leave with a growth report showing exactly what moved since summer.

First-timers get their baseline that day.

If your athlete is playing, come find us. We'll be there.

Rosters came out a couple weeks ago and not everybody's name was on one.

If that was your kid, you already know how that week went. They said they didn't care. They cared. And there's not a lot you can say in that moment that helps, because at fourteen the thing feels permanent.

It isn't. Kids at that age are still years from finished, and a lot of what separates the ones who made it from the ones who didn't comes down to size, timing, and how their body happened to develop over one summer. Some of that catches up on its own. The rest of it is trainable, which is the part nobody tells them.

The mistake we see is the quiet one. A kid doesn't make it, stops playing entirely, and by the time they think about trying again the gap is real instead of imagined. What they actually needed was somewhere to go in the meantime.

That's a lot of what we do here. Kids come in during the off months, get stronger, get faster, and show up in the spring as a different athlete than the one who got cut.

There's a lot of time between now and next season. If they want to use it, we're out here.

Isn't he too young to lift?

Most common question we get, and it's a fair one.

He's not lifting the way you're picturing. He's learning to move. Squat, hinge, push, pull, land. Appropriate weight, a coach watching every rep, and no rush to add plates.

The research on this is old and settled. Supervised strength work is one of the safest things a young athlete can do.

What actually gets kids hurt is playing one sport year round with no strength base under it. That's the thing worth worrying about.

Ask us anything. We'd rather answer it than have you guess.

If your athlete isn't playing this fall, whether they got cut, took a season off, or their sport is in the spring, the next few months are the most valuable training window they'll get all year. No games to recover from. No coach to answer to. Nothing competing for their legs.

Two days a week from now until March is roughly fifty sessions. That's enough to change what kind of athlete a kid is, not just how they feel.

Off-season spots are open. Message us.

Bring a Friend Week is September 7 through 11!

Your friend gets a free workout. You get a $25 credit toward your next monthly payment just for bringing them. If they decide to join Performance Barn Training after their visit, you get a $100 credit for next month!

A few things to know. Your friend has to be new to PBT, and the free session needs to be scheduled in advance so we can plan the floor.

You already know who it is. The teammate who keeps asking what you do here. The friend who has been saying since June they were going to start.

Message us to get them on the schedule. Text at 858-761-3480 or email at [email protected]

Two things happen in here.

Kids get stronger. And kids find out they can do things they were sure they couldn't.

The second one lasts longer.

Time to talk about National Sixes.

Back in July we ran our combine testing at the National Sixes Select Camp at Blandair Park. Two days, close to a hundred athletes across both days, and every one of them walked out with a full report on where they stood.

It was one of the best run events we have been part of. The staff was organized, the athletes were coached hard and treated well, and the whole thing moved. That is harder to pull off than it looks, and they made it look easy. We were glad to be there and we are glad to be going back.

For anyone who has not seen Sixes played, it is worth your time. Six on six, smaller field, everybody plays both ends. It was built to speed the game up and cut the cost and complexity of playing it, and it is the format lacrosse will be played in at the 2028 Olympics. What it means for a young player is simple: more touches, more decisions, nowhere to hide. Kids get better faster in that format than they do standing on a sideline in a ten on ten game.

The League itself is the part people should know about. Four consecutive Saturday nights, under the lights, played straight through. It is a different feel than a weekend tournament and the athletes love it.

On September 26 we will be back on site with the Combine Tool at Troy Park.

This one matters more than the first. Every athlete who tested with us in July gets retested that day on the same battery under the same conditions, and they leave with a growth report showing exactly what changed since summer and by how much. Same tests, same standard, real comparison.

Anyone testing for the first time gets their baseline, and we will do the same thing for them down the road.

We have attached a sample report below under the name Athlete X so you can see exactly what your athlete receives. Along with it is a second document that walks through how to read the report, what each test measures, and what the scoring actually means. We would rather you see it up front than wonder what you are getting.

We will have more on this as it gets closer. If your athlete is playing in the Fall Series, come find us.

We've had a kid come in who was already the fastest on his team and wanted to be faster. We've had a kid come in who'd never played anything and just wanted to stop feeling out of place in gym class.

Both belong here. Neither one gets a watered-down version.

The only thing we ask is that they show up and do the work honestly. What they're chasing is up to them.

The Performance Barn sits at 15870 Frederick Road in Woodbine. It's a family building, and I grew up around the work that went into it. What's grown since then is what happens inside.

We're proud to still share this building with True Sports Physical Therapy, Kristi Gorey Fitness, and Maddie Stallmer Adaptive Training. Long-standing partnerships, and we couldn't be more grateful for the relationships we've built with all three.

Performance Barn Training is our youth and high school athletic performance company, and that's the one I run. I'm Wyatt Haney. Howard County local, played through college, started this to give athletes somewhere to push and grow without the random workouts and the guesswork.

Griffin Mahon is our Director of Performance and he's the one who makes that real day to day. He knows which athlete needs pushing and which one needs backing off, and that's not something you can install. What Griff brings here is invaluable. He's become a genuine cornerstone of this community, and his knowledge and his personality are a large part of why we've grown as fast as we have this past year.

What separates us is accountability, and it starts with tracking everything.

I grew up in a family business where you were held to what you actually did, not what you said you did. Numbers settled it. That's the same standard we run here. Every rep, every set, every session gets tracked, and every athlete gets retested on a six-week cycle so nobody is guessing whether the work is working.

It means we hold athletes accountable to something real. And when a parent asks how their son or daughter is looking, the answer isn't "yeah, they seem stronger." We can show you what changed, by how much, and over what period.

Whether your kid is chasing a roster spot or just wants to get stronger, there's room on this floor. Click the link for more info: https://performancebarn.com/
