We are excited to introduce Miss Heather as our very own assistant trainer!! 🐴
Heather is a lifelong horse lover who grew up in horse country Idaho. She began riding at the age of 6 and finally got a horse of her own horse at 10 years old. Her riding originally focused on a youth ba****ck and bridleless drill team that performed as a rodeo side act with liberty and jumping teams included. She performed with the group for about seven years, earning all of the leadership positions available. She then coached the group as the Assistant Drill instructor for over 20 years.
In her teens, Heather began teaching her fellow drill riders private lessons in ba****ck, liberty, western and queening skills. She added English, jumping under saddle, and play day events such as barrels and poles through those years.
As an adult, Heather had the amazing privilege to earn a coveted spot on the Snake River Stampeders Night Light Drill Team. The Stampeders are a 16-woman drill team that performs in the dark at high speed through intricate maneuvers. They are the only drill team ever invited to perform at the National Finals Rodeo. Heather was thrilled to perform with the team at the NFR on two occasions. You can check out a documentary of the team on YouTube, featuring Heather and her horse Rarely, called Electric Cowgirls.
Professionally, Heather has held a wide number of horsey jobs from stall cleaner, c**t starter, and cutting horse loper, to therapeutic riding instructor, counselor in equine assisted psychotherapy, and program manager for a premier accredited therapeutic riding program.
Heather is so excited to join Quail Ridge as an Assistant Trainer! Horses are where she feels most at home and she loves sharing her passion with others. She offers experience in a wide range of disciplines and a wealth of knowledge in horsemanship.
If you’d like to schedule a lesson with Miss Heather either for yourself or your kiddo, please shoot us a PM for scheduling!
