Hi, Rhett Weber, owner/operator of the SLAMMER. I live in Westport year round with my wife Edna and my two kids Ivan and Kayleen. My father, Lee Weber worked on and ran Charter boats from the mid 60's to the early 00's and I spent most of my childhood summers fishing with him. He deckhanded for the likes of Walt Blanchard, and Bob Williams, and ran a few notable boats like the JUDGE, the MODOC, an
d the SEAHAWK, as well as running my boat for it's second owner under the name LADY ARLENE. When I started deckhanding the 80's salmon collapse had already occurred and my dad wasn't running a boat, so I went down and found work. The salmon seasons were very short and I really cut my teeth learning how to bottom fish. I worked for Russ Carlson, Shane Guile, Laura Pilgrim(Rust), Jack and Steve Westrick, and Rick Clark to name a few. In 1995 I got my skipper's license and started running the SIX-PAK for Doug Colin. At the end of that season Ken Culver, whom I had worked two and a half years for, offered to sell me the TEQUILA, a 42 foot Skookum charter boat that was originally built in 1976 as the first FOXY LADY. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse. So after picking the name SLAMMER I started my own business in 1996. In 2006 I replaced the main engine and converted it from dry exhaust to wet. In 2008 I lengthened the boat by almost 7 feet. In the winter of '12-'13 I lengthened the cabin and raised the bow and re-painted. With the help of Facebook, and having a few "epiphanies" to build my business over the years we have grown to one of the busiest and most trusted boats in the Westport charter fleet. Feel free to message me with any questions you might have, I very seldom miss a reply.
