Loved having two leaders from the Southwestern Family of Companies “Advantage” summer internship over today!

The group knocking on doors selling books in Central Ohio (once again) are from the top University in Estonia!

Vlad (3rd summer) and Nikita (10th summer) are legit guys so if you meet them or any of their other students, be sure to hear them out.

Takes me back to 40 years ago (my first of 5 summers) when I knocked on doors in Oklahoma with Nancy Ballentine, Joseph Matejka. Good times!!!

Most businesses are LOSING customers and don’t even realize WHY.

Today inside the Expert Edge Business Coaching Profit, Time, Impact Virtual Mastermind call, one of my mentors Roger Walker unpacked

“The Competitive Advantage Equation” (See the attached image)

This is the framework he used while helping grow TRANE’s National & Global Accounts Division from roughly $30M to over $300M in revenue, over a 10-year period.

The biggest takeaway?

Most businesses compete in the SAME 3 “C1” places:
Product.
Price.
Quality.

But eventually… those things can (and will) be copied.

Roger taught us that long-term growth and customer loyalty come from developing unique "C2" capabilities competitors CAN’T easily duplicate while protecting the ultimate multiplier…

Ethics. (If you aren’t operating with integrity, the whole equation breaks down)

A few major action steps from today:
1. Audit your top relationships.
Who are the top 10 customers, referral partners, or strategic relationships you should intentionally deepen right now?

2. Identify your “C2” for each of these relationships.
What are the unique capabilities your competitors CAN’T easily duplicate? Build loyalty, not just satisfaction. Satisfied customers leave for better deals. Loyal customers stay through mistakes, competition, and market shifts.

3. Protect the Ethics Multiplier.
The entire equation collapses without integrity. Long-term trust compounds. Think LONGER term. The world wants hacks. Legacy is built through consistency, relationships, service, and faithfulness over decades.

What impacted me most personally? Roger just turned 79 years old (Happy Birthday!) and he’s still incredibly respected for his business acumen, his church relationships his family and faith.

That to me, is real success.
