✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: SHARON JOY ✨
Meet Sharon Joy! A familiar face in our studio whose yoga practice has been part of her life for the past nine years. 🖤
Tell us a little about yourself 🔥
Outside the studio, I love hiking, paddleboarding, traveling, and spending time with my family. I recently stepped away from my nursing career to embrace more adventure and make the most of every day.
How did you find Hot Yoga West Reading? 🧘♀️
I first discovered hot yoga while living in Lancaster and immediately fell in love. When I returned to Berks County, I found HYWR and quickly felt welcomed by the community.
How has your practice impacted your life? 🌱
In 2024, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer that affected my pelvis and hip bones. Yoga became an important part of my healing, helping with pain, mobility, and finding peace through meditation. It reminds me that strength comes in many forms.
What keeps you coming back? 🔥
The people, the challenge, and the way I feel after every class. Yoga has given me confidence, resilience, and a community that continues to inspire me.
Advice for someone taking their first class? 💭
Just show up. Everyone starts somewhere, and you might discover more strength, healing, and support than you ever expected.
Fun Fact: After a life-changing conversation with a friend, Sharon bought a teardrop camper named The Silver Queen, sold her home, and spent months traveling the Southeast — hiking, paddleboarding, exploring national parks, and practicing yoga along the way. 🏕️✨ Today, she and her boyfriend keep the adventure going with a trip somewhere warm every month!
We’re so grateful Sharon Joy found her way to our HYWR community and continues to share her strength, adventurous spirit, and love of the practice with us. Show her some love next time you see her in the studio! 🖤
