We enjoyed Samir’s individual study on chokes. Our session on Saturday ended with variations of Canto chokes from multiple positions. Thanks again to everyone that was present and participated in our event.

Congratulations Team!!!!! A very big weekend of Testing, Promotions and Good vibes. We gathered to see Samir Džanić receive his black belt, Matt Belchak receive his 1st degree and Ryan Williamson and Ray MacDonald receive their Purple Belts.
Each promotion is evaluated and awarded on each individuals performance and technical experience. Each promotion was well deserved and has a story of its own.

Thanks to everyone that showed up for the test and the belt ceremony. We were pleasantly surprised with the support from our friends, family and Community. Special thanks to the Professors that were in attendance and participated in the testing. Absolute came through for them. We recognize that and value that greatly. Respect and Gratitude. We could only tag 20 people but just know each and every one of you was seen and appreciated. Thank you.

Today we celebrate one of the greatest men among us, Samir Džanić!!! His friends, family and everyone important in his life. A man who’s dedicated the last 14 years of his life to Jiu Jitsu and more importantly to Absolute! He coaches the youth classes on Friday’s and has spent countless weekends at tournaments over the years. He’s been consistent, dedicated and loyal to Absolute.

He’s raised his two sons in our program from the time they were very young. We are honored to be such an important part of the growth of these fine men. With his commitment to Absolute comes sacrifice of time spent with his wife and family, we would like to acknowledge Jelena, Armano and Deen for the support we’ve felt from them from the beginning. We recognize and cherish the Džanić family. They are Absolute!!!

If there ever an opportunity to help the team, he’s the first to volunteer, the first to step up and lead, the first to help the new member, more importantly the first reach out to lift a friend or teammate up. He represents all the greatest qualities that makes Absolute great!

When we asked Samir about Respect, this was what he emphatically responded without hesitation. “Respect is a positive feeling that expresses a sense of healthy relationships fostering trust, security, and a sense of worth”.

To know Samir is to know that he is the first to show signs of Respect, doesn’t matter if it’s the newest person in the room or the one that’s been there for 20 years, the youngest to the oldest, he treats everyone with respect. He is a fantastic example to his teammates, his coworkers and his community. We are proud of his role in our academy as a leader and example to others.

We continue this evening with Samir’s individual study. He will be sharing with our team his experience and knowledge on the subject he has chosen to study. Remember the belt ceremony and promotions will begin on Saturday May 16th at 11:00am. It’s open for everyone to come and watch. To honor Grand Master Flavio’s tradition and our deep respect for him we will require everyone participating to wear a white Gi. Come Train!!!!!!
