While two-thirds of college head coaches are women, making the jump from being a "great player" to a "great coach" is rare. Great players often struggle to teach skills that came naturally to them. Meanwhile, many "great coaches" were just average players who worked harder to understand the game.

2. Attitude - huge meaning to this word. Attitude really is everything. If you want to be great you MUST HAVE a great attitude! I've said this before but don't wait until it's softball season to train hard. I want my pitchers to outwork everyone at school, home, practice and during the game. If you're not getting good grades then you're gonna have a hard time getting a scholarship. In fact, you're chances of getting and keeping a scholarship will be low. I want my pitchers to be mentally tough, be able to take criticism, not make excuses, and have a high self esteem. They should be a great teammate, leader and role model. However, you could be all of these things and still not be the best. Be the best that you can be the best at. The things you can be the best at, are attitude and effort. It may not pay off when you want it to but hard work does pay off. Finally, the harder you work, the better you become and the better you become the more confidence you will have. The reverse is also true.

It's way more fun playing with a lot of confidence and winning than the opposite.
