This is the benefit in flooding months before the actual duck season. Many people flood just a couple weeks before the season but that doesn’t give enough time for snails and microorganisms to grow. A lot of our fields are loaded with these little snails too. Duck food = ducks!!

It feels good when God blesses the work you’ve done, and gives you the fruit of it! (Not even half the birds got up). It’s been so much work from the summer to now getting all the properties planted with food, pumping the water, prepping the ground, etc. This is just proof that Louisiana still gets ducks and if you have food they will be here! And we are seeing more show up literally everyday!

Not a ton of birds down right now but I’m starting to see some big groups of pintail and greys which is normally what we see early. Around this time we normally see WAY more of them though so I honestly like that we are seeing less and let me tell you why. The early birds we get blue wings, early pintail, early greys, those are the ducks that get here early and then a week before season or right after opening weekend boom they’re just all gone in an instance. That’s the birds that go to Mexico first. So not seeing many right now may mean we see more of them showing up during the actual season!! But we shall see!!
