Yall read this post all the way through! Jennifer is AMAZING! She has been so consistent and the biggest change she’s gone through has been in how she sees herself, which is my main goal for everyone who works out with me! ❤️
“How do you describe yourself? I’ll go first. I am a good wife and mom. I am a follower of Jesus. I am intelligent. I am a good employee. I help people. I am a person who works out. Wow, that last one, that’s hard for me to say. I have never been able to commit to a fitness routine. Group fitness classes have always given me extreme anxiety. Even the first time I went to The Iron Studio, I left the class early and in tears. I just wasn’t made for the gym. But Abby encouraged me to go back and really see what this community of women was like. And I’m so glad I did. I have been working out at The Iron Studio consistently for one year. The weights I lift now are heavier than the ones I lifted at first. I still feel anxious, but more than that I feel proud. I don’t look like a person who works out, but I also don’t get out of breath anymore when I walk up a flight of stairs. I went on an educational trip with my kids that required almost constant walking all day for a week, and I was able to keep up. My kids encourage me as I walk out the door for a workout, and they see me keep at it even after I’ve had a long day at work. I was one of the first to sign up as a new member of HerSpace Fit, and I can’t wait to take full advantage of the new open gym and the opportunity to push my body further. This will be a brand-new experience for me, and I am anxious about it. But knowing that these ladies have always been so kind and encouraging to me makes it all okay. I have never felt judged, singled out, or “less than” because I am not “good” at working out. My first time (or my hundredth time) on the treadmill at HerSpace probably won’t be comfortable for me, but I will get through it. Because I am a person who works out.”
