Water safety at the Y is making headlines! 🏊📰 As families head to pools, lakes, and more water fun this summer, the Gateway Region YMCA recently joined First Alert 4 to share important reminders about staying safe around the water. The story also featured one Y swim lesson participant, River, who talked about how swim lessons have helped her build confidence in the water!
Y District Vice President, Erin Darche, also highlighted an important reminder: drowning can happen quickly and quietly. That's why the Y encourages designating a "water watcher" whenever children are swimming, an adult whose sole responsibility is supervising the water without any distractions.
We're proud to help children and families build confidence in the water and learn skills that can help save lives.
