Random GoPro Mission 1 Pro test: Remember that old Media Mod we tore apart to make for a lower profile connection to the 11, 12, & 13 cameras? We thought we would try it on this new camera while we wait for the USB to HDMI firmware update. Yea, it doesn't work.

A couple 8K shots were uploaded as well. I honestly think the 4K 60 looks better on YouTube than 8K. And the Open Gate shots really won't serve much use in our demographic. But since it is a new(ish) feature, we thought you might want to see it.

As the rolling review of the GoPro Mission 1 Pro continues, the first sentence of today's session starts out like this: "Not every day can be a win.". Or as Mick the Great says, "You can't always get what you want". All weekend long, this little camera had success after success, checking off so many boxes of issues resolved. Today we hit our first red flag. Streaming disconnects. And more importantly, the inability to recover and reconnect to a lost connection. We've posted the full detail in the rolling review. But in short, we have concerns.

This is the SD copy of a GoPro Mission 1 Pro live we sent to YouTube today (streaming to Facebook is still a fractured mess). Unfortunately, GoPro still doesn't allow portrait lives. So the YT version is rotated incorrectly. But this copy should give you an idea what 1080p streaming looks like with this camera. Also tested that USB external audio works with streaming. It does. That's a great addition we weren't expecting to enjoy as much as we are.

As an ancient philosopher once said, "It's on, like Donkey Kong!". The LynkSpyder Torture Test of the GoPro Mission 1 Pro has commenced. And rather than working our way up to the standard test temp of 120°F, that's where we are starting with this camera. No sense in messing around. Temp probes mounted on the top left, and Right Front (lower part of front LCD). The test captures all 4 temps (the 2 camera probes, internal, and external ambient) every second.

Results will be compiled on our Torture Test Blog and summarized on our rolling review. Stay tuned...

Ok, GoPro Mission 1 Pro Day 1, Take 2. I know I said I wouldn't go to the test field today because it was raining. It then occurred to me that the GoPro is about the only camera that makes sense to shoot in the rain. So here we go: Fence fit confirmed. No issues. Great fit.

The GoPro Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro cameras have been released to the public as of today, May 28, 2026. While available in some box stores, we are awaiting our Mission 1 Pro delivery from GoPro. It is frustrating that pre-ordering doesn't afford you any delivery priority. With that said, it does save you $100 by using your GoPro Service discount. So while we wait, we have gone ahead and started our Rolling Review Blog post for this camera. If you aren't familiar with that process, as we test and learn about new products, we update the rolling review to allow you faster access to things that might interest you. After testing, if we feel a device is worthy of a recommendation, we will post a summary "Final Review" in a dedicated post.

Memorial Day 2026 - Memorial Day is one of those rare holidays that is not intended to be "celebrated"; rather, it is to be pondered upon. Perhaps like many of you, we've spent a number of Memorial Days chasing kiddos around a ballpark. Those were some exciting and exhausting times. But as we sit back and remember those days fondly, we do so forever grateful for the men and women, in the history of this great nation, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and conveniences that we often take for granted. Ultimate sacrifices can never be repaid. But they most certainly should never be forgotten. To the families of loved ones lost, we thank you for your heros' sacrifice.

As we continue to keep our eye on the GoPro Mission 1 launch, today (5/21/2026) it is officially available for order, with an anticipated ship date of 5/28. For us, the theme for this cycle will be: how bad do they want to win? We are watching for little things. Because a bunch of little things really add up. Big things will just be copied by the competition. Starting with little thing #1: the infamous microphone drain cover. Starting with the HERO9, this cover's main purpose is to protect the membrane of the internal microphone. But customers have notoriously mistaken this cover for access panel and break them off. So recognizing today's little thing: placing a note on the cover. Certainly some people will still break them. But I know this will save a few.

We are going to test this thing hard. And we certainly are not going to give GoPro a pass. It's the bottom of the 9th and we are down a few runs. But we want GoPro to walk it off. We need GoPro to walk it off. Let's go!
