The Vernal Oilers are excited to announce the re-signing of 2007 born forward Brett Holman for the upcoming season!

The Nampa, Idaho native enjoyed a remarkable rookie season in junior hockey, recording 68 points in 48 games while helping lead the Oilers to the 2026 USPHL Premier National Championship.

Holman’s growth throughout the season was evident every night, developing into one of the team’s most impactful offensive players while earning the trust of the coaching staff over the course of the season.

“Brett was unofficially our team’s most improved player and Rookie of the Year last season. He made tremendous progress both on and off the ice last season, and we are excited to continue developing him in the NCDC.”

After a breakout rookie campaign, we’re excited to see Brett continue his development and make an impact as the Oilers begin their inaugural NCDC season.

We are pleased to announce the tender signing of Leo Gauthier!

The 2008 born forward from Laval, QC comes to Vernal after spending the bulk of last season at the jr. A level with Laval in the QJHL, recording 29 pts in 19 games. Additionally, Leo earned a promotion to Baie-Comeau in the QMJHL where he dressed in 2 games, marking his second stint at the Major Junior level after playing 17 games with Acadie-Bathurst during the 2024/25 season.

2 time United States Premier Hockey League National Champion, and now professional hockey player.

Congratulations to Oilers legend Roni Alanko on signing with the Columbus River Dragons in the Federal Prospects Hockey League!

Roni recorded a jaw-dropping 129 points in 45 total games as an Oiler and was a key component of our back-to-back national championship squads.

"Roni is a large person with a larger personality. To say he's left an impact on our organization, both on and off the ice, is an understatement," said GM David Imonti. "We are thrilled for Roni to take this next step in his career, and we cant wait to watch from a distance as he begins his journey through professional hockey."

The Vernal Oilers are excited to announce the re-signing of defenseman Jordan Trakosas for the 2026/27 season!

The Cobourg, Ontario native has been a key piece of the Oilers’ success, recording an impressive 57 points in 48 games during his time in Vernal. Trakosas also served as an Assistant Captain during the 2025-26 season, providing leadership on and off the ice.

Jordan’s outstanding play earned him a spot on the 2026 USPHL Premier National Championship Tournament All-Tournament Team, helping lead the Oilers to another national title.

A proven leader, elite puck-moving defenseman, and champion, we’re thrilled to have Jordan back in Orange and Navy as we begin our next chapter in the NCDC.

Congratulations to former Oiler Derrick Henson on making his commitment to continue his academic and hockey career at Utah State University!

The two time USPHL National Champion heads to Logan, UT after recording 36 points and 209 PIM in 52 total games played as an Oiler.

"Derrick was a trade we made during our 2025 National Championship run to add some toughness to an already talented Oilers roster," said GM David Imonti. "Derrick's presence proved to be critical in getting past Seattle in the divisional final, and in season two he became the leader everyone knew he could be, guiding us to our second consecutive national title. We are proud of Derrick, and wish him the best in hockey and in life."

The 2008 born forward from Cardiff, Wales comes to Vernal after recording an impressive 100 points (47+53) in 59 games at the U18 AAA level with the Long Island Arrows in 2025/26. Additionally, Ethan competed with the Great Britain Ice Hockey U18 national team, recording 3 points in 5 games at the IIHF D2A World Junior Championships.
