Sometimes when you practice with the intention of supporting others, it enriches you in a whole new way.

That is what Wednesday is about. Jenny is leading Practice for a Purpose, a free outdoor class on the lawn at Beverly Hills Park, and every donation goes to SOS, Schools Offer Support, a local organization that helps families right here with food, utility bill assistance, and holiday gifts for their kids.

You still get everything a class gives you. The stretch, the breath, the hour with no phone in your hand. But something is different about doing it on a lawn full of people who all showed up for the same reason, knowing a family down the road gets groceries this week because of it. The practice stops being only yours. That is when it gets bigger.

No hot room this time. Just the grass and the evening air. If you have never done yoga in your life, this is the easiest possible first class, and Jenny will talk you through every bit of it.

Bring a mat, bring water, bring a friend.

Dolomites Preview 2 of 4: where you'll wake up.

Last Sunday we showed you the mountains. This Sunday, home base.

Our home for the week is a peaceful, family-run 4-star alpine wellness hotel in the heart of the Dolomites — mountain-view rooms with private balconies, and warm South Tyrolean hospitality from a local team that treats guests like returning family.

That sounds like brochure language until you've experienced the alternative. At a big resort you're a room number for a week. At a family-run place in South Tyrol, by about day three someone knows how you take your coffee, and asks how the hike went, and means it.

And when you come down from the trails: a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, an indoor pool, massage and spa therapists on site, a panoramic terrace, and quiet corners built for doing absolutely nothing.

Practice in the morning. Mountains in the afternoon. Sauna before dinner. Sleep with the window open.
