Joe and Sarah Witte call NorthRoad home. Over the last year, the Lord has worked in Joe's life in ways he never could have imagined. As we approach the one-year anniversary of the moment that changed his life, the timing of this past week's message couldn't be more fitting. This is his story.
"On June 26, 2025, my life changed in an instant. I was involved in a workplace electrical accident and suffered injuries that should have taken my life. For nearly 20 minutes, my co workers performed CPR before first responders arrived then God gave me another chance. What followed were weeks of surgeries, ICU, pain, the loss of my right leg below the knee and a few little piggies.
There were many moments when I questioned why this happened, but through every struggle, God remained faithful. James teaches us to consider it pure joy when we face trials because those trials produce perseverance. I won’t pretend the journey has been easy, but I can say that God has used it to teach me patience, humility, and a deeper faith than I’ve ever known.
I’ve learned that faith isn’t trusting God only when life is good. Faith is trusting Him when you don’t understand the plan, when progress feels slow, and when every day brings a new challenge. God didn’t remove the struggle, but He has carried me through it. He has provided strength through my family, friends, church, medical team, and countless people who prayed for me.
Today, my testimony is simple: God is still working, even in the hardest seasons. What the world saw as tragedy, God has used to draw me closer to Him. My story isn’t just about surviving an accident--it’s about learning to trust God’s purpose through every step of the journey."
