⚾️💙 WarDogs 14U | Gate City Sports: 2026 Crush Cancer Classic 💙⚾️

What a weekend of baseball for our WarDogs 14U boys at the Gate City Sports: 2026 Crush Cancer Classic! This team continues to battle, compete, and grow as they take on tough competition and gain valuable experience on the field. 💪

Here’s a look back at the weekend!

🔹 Saturday – Pool Play

The WarDogs opened the weekend against Carolina Wolfpack – Red 14U in a hard-fought battle, ultimately coming up short, 6–4. The boys worked to create opportunities at the plate and on the basepaths, drawing 9 walks and swiping 6 bases. Mason Grubb also reached base for a hit in his only at-bat.

In their second game, the WarDogs faced TRX 14U and fell 12–2. Despite the tough result, Carter Ozment, Mason Mabe, Kedrin Pichardo, and Trevor Allen recorded hits, while Ozment and Caleb Harrell contributed RBIs.

🔹 Sunday – Back on the Field!

The boys came ready to compete Sunday, earning an impressive 8–0 shutout victory over TRX 14U! 🔥

Mason Grubb was outstanding on the mound, throwing 6 innings while allowing just 3 hits and no runs, striking out 6 and walking only 1 batter. Trevor Allen delivered a clutch 2-run double, and Mason Pope went 2-for-2 at the plate to help fuel the offense. What a great team effort!

In their final game against Carolina Hawks 14U, the WarDogs continued to fight but came up short, 11–3. Mason Pope drove in a run, while Mason Mabe, Caleb Harrell, Mason Pope, and Trevor Allen all recorded hits. Mason Grubb added two stolen bases, continuing to put pressure on the defense.

💙 We’re proud of these boys! Baseball is full of ups and downs, but every game is an opportunity to learn, improve, and come back stronger. The effort, resilience, and continued development of this group are what matter most. We’ll keep putting in the work and building toward what’s next!

A big thank-you to Gate City Sports for hosting the tournament and to everyone who continues to support our WarDogs 14U team. And thank you to our sponsors for helping make this season possible!

⚾️ WHAT A WEEKEND FOR THE WARDOGS 14U Baseball! ⚾️

So incredibly proud of this group of boys! It was a LONG couple of days at the ball field… but honestly, where else would we rather be?! 🐾⚾️

The Gate City Sports Triad Fall Clash was a weekend full of big moments, adversity, comebacks, and a whole lot of baseball!

🔥 SATURDAY — POOL PLAY

We went 1-1 in pool play, finishing as the #4 seed heading into Sunday’s tournament bracket.

We opened the weekend with a 13-4 win over High Point Pony Select 14U, jumping on the board early and never looking back. The boys battled at the plate, showed great patience with 9 walks, stole 8 bases, and put together a big offensive day.

Then came a tough matchup against Carolina Recon 14U, where we fell 6-1. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but it set the stage for what these boys would do the next day.

💪 SUNDAY — TOURNAMENT TIME

As the #4 seed, we had to get to work early — and the boys answered!

First up was Carolina Evo 14U, and the WarDogs showed some serious fight. After falling behind by as many as six runs, the boys stormed back for a 10-8 comeback victory! 🔥

Next came a rematch with #1 seed Carolina Recon 14U in the semifinals.

And THIS TIME… the WarDogs came ready. 🐾

The boys jumped out to a 5-run lead in the first inning and held on through a nail-biting finish to defeat Recon 7-6 and earn a spot in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! 🏆

Then came the championship.

It was hot. ☀️
It was a long day. 🥵
The boys were tired.
But they never stopped fighting.

The WarDogs battled all the way to the end before coming up just short, falling 4-2 to GATA Academy 14U.

And while we would have loved to bring home that championship trophy, we couldn’t be more proud of these boys. ❤️

This is a different game at 14U — bigger field, bigger bats, tougher competition, and bigger challenges. And these boys continue to grow, learn, compete, and put it ALL out there on the field.

Going from the #4 seed after pool play to fighting our way into the championship game says a lot about the heart and determination of this team.

The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story.

The growth does.
The fight does.
The way they never give up does.

Keep working, keep believing, and keep playing for each other, boys. We are so proud of you! 💙⚾️🐾

LET’S GO WARDOGS!!! 🔥🔥🔥

A huge 5-run fourth inning sparked the comeback, highlighted by RBI contributions from Cooper Haynes and Kedrin Pichardo. The Wardogs collected 6 hits and 9 stolen bases, but ultimately fell just short.

That never-quit mentality is something to be proud of! 👊
