What happens when an 11-year-old competitive dancer tries our recovery room? 💃❄️🔴

Hours of practice, performances, conditioning, and repetition can take a toll on any athlete's body. Today, she put our recovery amenities to the test with red light therapy, a cold plunge, and a hot plunge.

Recovery isn't just for martial artists, football players, or gym-goers. Dancers are athletes too, and taking care of your body is just as important as training it.

Her verdict?

"I would recommend this to every athlete in Tracy."💪🏼

Pull-ups aren't one-size-fits-all. Each variation creates a different training adaptation.

Strict Pull-Ups:
Develop maximal pulling strength, shoulder stability, and body control. If your goal is to get stronger, strict pull-ups should be a regular part of your training.

Kipping Pull-Ups:
Transfer force from the hips through the upper body, reducing local muscular fatigue and improving work capacity. Useful when the goal is to move efficiently and maintain output over higher rep ranges.

Butterfly Pull-Ups:
A cyclical movement pattern designed to minimize time between repetitions. The most efficient option for high-volume workouts where speed and energy conservation are critical.

The best variation depends on the intended adaptation. Strength, work capacity, and movement efficiency are all different qualities that should be trained accordingly.

🤼‍♂️ Wrestlers of the Month: Monthly Recognition

Each month, our OMA coaches proudly recognize athletes who demonstrate outstanding commitment, consistency, punctuality, and growth by nominating them as our "Wrestlers of the Month."

This month, our staff is thrilled to highlight three incredible athletes: Kalea Montez, Kayleigh Cruz, and Jose Arroyo Jr.

🏅 Kalea Montez

Kalea has shown consistent commitment to her grappling endeavors at a remarkably young age. Training in both wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu, she spends long hours in the gym and even takes the time to guide, encourage, and help train her little sister. Kalea's dedication is paying off, with her skills and performance improving with every single tournament she enters. The sky is the limit for this young athlete.

-Favorite Movie: Coraline
-Favorite Thing About Wrestling: It helps her get stronger and more disciplined.

🏅 Kayleigh Cruz

As one of the hardest-working wrestlers in the room, Kayleigh consistently displays an elite work ethic both on the mat and in the classroom. This stellar scholar-athlete continues her personal development by attending weekly mentorship calls to help set and track her goals. Kayleigh has her sights set high for the upcoming season, and with the support of her coaches and teammates, she is bound to achieve them. Keep grinding, kid!

-Favorite Food: Fettuccine Alfredo Pasta
-Favorite Movie: A Dog’s Purpose

Jose has undergone a drastic transformation recently, both physically and as a competitor. A longtime OMA athlete who has trained in wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu for many years, he continues to achieve milestones both on the mat and in the classroom, even earning a spot on the honor roll this past season! Jose, your coaches, parents, and teammates are incredibly proud of you. Stay focused, keep working hard, and you can achieve anything!

Not every kid gets to share this journey with family.

From their first class to promotion day, these cousins and siblings have pushed each other, encouraged each other, and grown together every step of the way.

Today is a reminder that success is sweeter when you have people beside you who are working just as hard.

Congratulations on your promotions. You've earned every bit of it.
