We’re organizing our kids curriculum around The Art of Choke to help students build a clearer understanding of how Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fits together.

Each week, we’ll highlight a Position of the Week in the gym and connect what we’re learning in class back to the positions, concepts, and vocabulary in the book. The goal isn’t just for kids to remember individual moves, it’s for them to start building a mental map of BJJ and understand where they are, what matters there, and what options they have.

A little more structure, a little more shared language, and hopefully a lot more confident problem solving on the mats.

Sometimes the hardest part of training is waiting for your older sibling to finish youth class, but our sideline section doesn’t seem to mind!

We know from scheduling perspective it can be easier to have all kids training together, but providing each age group instruction that fits their size, attention span, and stage of development is important to us a BJJ Squared.

We are excited to further expand the kids class breakdown next week to make the training room productive for all.
