REMINDER: Lincoln Woods Trail will close beginning June 15 through November 2026, when restoration work commences. The trail will be closed to protect health and safety during construction activities.

The trail suffered significant damage during several flooding events over the past decade. This is essential work to ensure the long-term viability of the trail resulting in reliable access to recreation opportunities.

Sunset over Nowell Ridge & Crag Camp | 6/3/26

The sun sets behind Nowell Ridge, with Crag Camp perched above King Ravine. Built in 1909 as a private mountain retreat for Nelson H. Smith, Crag Camp later became part of the Randolph Mountain Club’s growing network of cabins when Smith donated it to the club in 1939. The original structure stood for more than 80 years before being replaced by the current cabin in 1993.

Perched on the rugged northern flank of the Presidential Range, Nowell Ridge offers a unique perspective of King Ravine and the Adams-Madison massif. As the last light fades behind the ridge, it’s hard not to think about the generations of hikers, trail crews, and RMC volunteers who have passed through this corner of the Whites for well over a century.

No fundraising minimums, but for those who raise $125 will receive the annual performance grade t-shirt and ticket or the hiker celebration.
