At the beginning of this month, 17 members of the kicked off their season with some professional development — Wilderness First-Aid and Advanced Wilderness First-Aid Courses, hosted by our friend and fellow guide, Mira D'Amato!

All certified Maine guides are required to possess both first-aid and CPR certifications. The WFA and AWFA allow our guides to go in depth, sharing river knowledge and experience, further preparing them for first-aid situations.

This Saturday May 30th, is the last big high water release of the spring on the Dead River. After that we move into our June releases at 4,000 CFS, which is still an incredible run — just a different kind of beast. Of course if you can’t make these dates, check out our daily trips on the Kennebec River and M-F on the Penobscot!

Here’s what’s left on the Dead River this season:

📅 May 30 — Last high water spring release
📅 June 6 — First summer release, 4,000 CFS
📅 Sept 6 · Sept 19 · Oct 3 — Fall releases

The Penobscot opens this weekend. 🌊

Class III–V whitewater through the granite walls of Ripogenus Gorge, with Katahdin and Baxter State Park as your backdrop. This is one of the most wild and remote river experiences in the country and it’s right here in Maine.

Stay at our Katahdin Adventure Base Camp at the Big Moose Inn -- lakeside cabins, inn rooms, and campground, just 8 miles outside of Millinocket and minutes from Baxter State Park. Raft the Penobscot, hike Katahdin, kayak the lake, and fall asleep under some of the darkest skies in the Northeast.

Yep. Right here in the main lodge in The Forks, Maine. Full brewpub upstairs, brewery in the basement, and Kevin — our head brewer — makes every single beer you drink here.

Eight beers on tap. Rotating alcoholic seltzer. Tasting flights. Full menu from 7am–9pm. Deck with a view. Hot tub year round. Pool. Arcade. Pool table. Couch by the fire in winter. Live music on weekends.
