Up and down weekend for the Douglass brothers!!

Both boys forgot the goal of pill draw is to pull a low number! They have both been relieved of their pill drawing duties and replaced by miss Cora who pulled awesome numbers for our good friends!

Jax started 6th and enjoyed the view of everyone’s back bumpers on his Saturday cruise. Finished dead last and putting him last in the B-main. However, he woke up, and the B-MAIN BANDIT came ready to race Jax made an awesome 4 wide move that ended with a 50-50 grind of the huggy pole, and wheeled from 8th to 3rd to transfer to the A! Started 9th and finished 7th on a locked down fast track that saw zero cautions and almost no passing! Overall a great showing but we have to eliminate the small mental mistakes to compete with the talent in this junior class!

Hudson and his buddy Tanner like always put on a show in their heat, with Tanner taking the win and Hudson a close second! In the feature Hudson got tangled up a couple times and some more contact throughout. He impressed me, he didn’t give in and kept battling, from back to 2nd then ended up falling to 3rd. These blue rookie races have been so much fun to watch the last month or so! Boys just battle and keep learning and pushing each other, then turn around and play the rest of the day together! So much fun to watch!

Finally getting back to our home track today! Hudson is saying it’s been like 30 years since we raced! So might as well bring home some hardware and party like it’s 1999!

Come out 3pm, watch our boys sling some dirt!!

Regional #3 recap!

The boys put dad to work this weekend!! If there was a wreck on track it seemed like we found a way to be a part of it! Lots of bent and broken parts and thrashing to get through the weekend but we made it.

Hudson took to his first regional since taking the step up to blue rookie, and the goal for the weekend was just to keep getting better and bring the car home in one piece. He tried everything he could to do the opposite!

His heat race we struggled with keeping the throttle linkage on the carb, which brought him into the pits multiple times. Finally got it righted and he finished 4th out of 5 cars. But showed good speed. In his feature, he get upside down early in the race, then decided If he wasn’t going to win the show he was going to be the show. Refusing to run the bottom and instead pound the cushion, I think he was sideways more then he was straight. But, for 5 the kid showed some impressive car control and enter up 5th out of 5. He got off the track telling everyone he was ready to run a sprint car now!

Jax found trouble all weekend, some his doing some not.

In his heat he was part of one the of hardest wrecks I’ve seen in quarter midgets, about a 7 car pile up. Ended up bending a spindle and an axle, but was able to continue and finished 4th out of 7 landing him on the pole of the B main. He was able to hold on and win the B putting him in the A!

In the feature dad asked him to go get a trophy! And he showed a bit more aggression then I had expected and made a couple ill timed pass attempts sending him to the back twice, then he got caught behind a wreck with no where to go and popped a left front, sending him to the back. Then got spun out from 6th and had to go back to the back! Then finally a run in with the turtles sheered a couple belly pan bolts and drug his butt on the track causing a final spin and strike ending our day in 9th.

All in all a good weekend! Hoped for some better finishes but the boys battled and continue to learn!! Couple weeks off for baseball then back home for a couple more races!!

1 spot short of a perfect birthday celebration!

We were lucky enough to celebrate Jax’s 8th birthday yesterday at the track! First off, thank you to everyone that was able to make it out, Jax was on top of the world all day!

Now let’s get to the racing!

Huddy:
This was our first time back at home after moving up a class to blue rookie last time out. Expectations were ever low with zero track time with the blue plate. It was also his first time in the car since his hard hit at ALQMA. However, the little turd showed no fear and went out and swept the night, won both heat races and his feature! Still plenty of work to be done on his line and race craft! But a great start for sure!

Jax learned a big sports lesson last night! There will be days that you come out and do everything right, make no mistakes, are bad fast but someone else is just a little bit better! Jax won his heat started on the pole for the feature, lead a handful of laps before being passed. But he battled and stayed right with him, didn’t let him get away and was there to capitalize on any mistakes made, unfortunately the kids a stud and didn’t make any! And that’s how racing goes! We couldn’t have asked for anything more for Jax and are incredibly proud of how he raced! Just flat got beat last night!

We left our mark at ALQMA!

Not the way we wanted to put the cars in the trailer tonight but over all a successful night!

Hudson went over a right front tire and launched him full sped straight into the wall. Broke everything in the front end, but I think the wall there got worst of it!

Jax finished 5th of 10 in a stacked field! Excited for the progress he has been making!

Mother Nature won’t keep us down! We are loaded up and headed to ALQMA-Abraham Lincoln Quarter Midget Association for some much needed seat time and regional notes

Sorry folks… Dirt Points Race #6 has been cancelled due to the weather 🥹

Club meeting will still be held at 12 pm EST and available by Zoom as well.
