Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association

Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association The goal of TMRA is to provide quality family style entertainment at affordable prices.

In its humble beginning, the Tehachapi Rodeo began as a youth rodeo and evolved into an adult amateur rodeo. In 1985, the rodeo joined the ranks of what now includes over 900 rodeos in 48 states and 4 Canadian Provinces as a pro rodeo sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and is celebrating it's 19th year as a Ram Truck sponsored Rodeo. The Tehachapi Mountain Festival PRC

A Rodeo was part of the Tehachapi Mountain Festival Committee and numerous members of the community worked diligently to help it evolve into one of the finest rodeos on the California Pro Rodeo Circuit. The rodeo and the committee continued to grow, and in 1997 the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association was formed. It included a dozen members who came together and spent approximately 6 months of the year in preparation for this event. Today the Association boasts a much larger membership as well as a large group of tireless volunteers who work year round in preparation for some of our annual events: The Kickoff Dinner & Dance; the Bad Bulls Tour on July 4th; and, the Tehachapi Mountain PRCA Rodeo in August. The success of the rodeo is due to the dedication of these members and countless volunteers over the past five decades who gave of their time, talents, and resources to preserve our western heritage.

🏆 Saturday night was Riley Yates’ time to shine!

This little cowboy came out and won the Mutton Bustin’ buckle! 🐑🤠

Both of Riley’s older brothers already have a buckle of their own, and now it was Riley’s turn to add one to the family collection! 🏆

Riley travels all over California competing in Junior Rodeo, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch this young cowboy keep chasing his dreams!

Congratulations, Riley aka Rooster, we are all so proud of you!!

🐴 Cowboy kids with big hearts! 🤠❤️

Friday night’s mutton busting was full of great rides and even better sportsmanship! Luca Banducci and Sedona Hall both originally scored a 70, but after the scores were re-added, Luca ended up with a 71 and won the belt buckle.

After receiving his buckle, Luca asked if he could give it to Sedona because she had done such a great job. His mom said it was completely his idea. He did want to keep the sticker though, which was absolutely adorable! 😂

That’s what cowboy kids are all about: hard work, good manners, and an even bigger heart. ❤️

Reed Thompson also had a great qualified ride, and little Grant was pretty adorable too! We’re proud of all of our mutton busters! 🐑🤠

We have never had to use the animal transport sled at a PRCA rodeo in Tehachapi, and we certainly never want to see an animal get hurt.

As an organization, we value the animals just as much as we value the cowboys, cowgirls, and stock contractors. The welfare and proper treatment of the livestock is always a top priority, and our animals receive the best care available.

The PRCA has approximately 60 rules specifically created to protect the animals, and the association has an Animal Welfare Committee dedicated to assisting with and ensuring proper livestock care.

Unfortunately, just like human athletes, injuries can happen. These are powerful athletes doing what they were bred and trained to do, and every once in a while something goes wrong.

When that happens, our priority is making sure the animal receives immediate attention and the proper care it needs.

We love this sport, we respect the animals, and we take their welfare very seriously. ❤️🐂🤠

Our goal is always the same: a safe, well-run rodeo where the animals are treated with the care and respect they deserve.

💛 COME OUT FRIDAY NIGHT AND HELP US SUPPORT OUR GOLDEN CIRCLE CHAMPION, JESSE! 💛

This Friday night at the rodeo, we’re coming together for a very special little cowboy, 4-year-old Jesse, and his family. 🐴

Jesse lives here in the mountains of Tehachapi with his family, his siblings Jolie & Jase, and his dog Holly. He loves being outdoors, playing with his siblings, and going out with his dad and brother to scout for deer and elk on guided and personal hunts. 🦌🏔️

At just 3 years old, Jesse was diagnosed with a rare condition called Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH). After numerous tests, Jesse underwent a biopsy and surgery at Stanford in May to remove a lesion from his collarbone. He is now being closely monitored with routine scans over the next few years.

This little guy has been through a lot, and we want to show Jesse and his family just how much their community is behind them. 💛

He’ll be starting preschool this year, getting back to being a kid, attending sporting events, and hopefully getting out on some local hunts with his dad. 🥰

So come out to the rodeo Friday night and help us make it a special one for Jesse!

🍻 ALL TIPS FROM THE BARS FRIDAY NIGHT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO JESSE, SO TIP HEAVY! 🍻💰

We’ll also be passing around the golden bucket for anyone who would like to make an additional donation.

You don’t have to know Jesse personally to make a difference. Every tip, every donation, and every person who comes out to support him means so much to this family.

Let’s pack the rodeo, have a great night, and show this little Golden Circle Champion what the Tehachapi community is all about! 💛
