Sometimes we learn how to use life saving equipment to help our friends and keep us safe during a rescue. More than 60% of drownings are people who know how to swim.

Sometimes we wear pjs to swim lessons.

Depending on the skills of the student, I ask parents to send their child to a lesson wearing cotton pjs. At the beginning of the lesson the child is asked to fall into the pool. This is a safety lesson. I can teach and teach and teach techniques for safety but a student has to have the understanding to know that a roll and float or swim to the side is the best way to reach safety in unexpected circumstances. Students also get to feel the sensation of having to swim in clothing.
