The main goals of this organization are to provide recreational, educational, and competitive opportunities for students through the sport of ice fishing.

It’s been a tough season for ice, there no doubt about that; but despite the melting lakes our members have still found a few opportunities to get out there! The incoming snowfall and deep freeze in northern Wisconsin gives us a little hope, but we will take every day on the ice that we can get! Happy fishing!

Tournament results are in! It was a beautiful day on the ice, and the fishing was even better. We had lots of catches in our chosen categories, crappie and walleye!

Rib Lake Tournament Rundown!!! These are not our final scores, as our logistics team tallies in the Big Fish Bonuses, but here are our inches. It was definitely a cold day on the ice, but lots of fun was had. Stay tuned for final results, more fish photos, sponsor recognition and 2023 senior send offs!! Thank you to everyone who came out on the ice with us, especially the alumni.

Robert Tulgren will be starting as a forester for NRCS, in Hinckley, MN, post graduation. His favorite fish is the walleye. Bob’s favorite tournament lake was Rib Lake. Have fun in Hinckley, we will miss you on the ice!!

Senior Send-off
Cole Carter plans to start work as a Fishery Technician for DIPAC, in Juneau, Alaska. His favorite fish is the Pike. Cole’s favorite tournament in UWSP Ice Fishing was at Rib Lake. We are so excited to hear how the fishing is up in Alaska! Best of luck with the new job Cole!

Senior Send-off
Patrick Catalano will be working as a Fisheries Technican for the U.S. Forest Service, in Salmon, Idaho post-graduation. His favorite species to ice fish for is either the walleye or the crappie. Patrick's favorite tournament was at Shawano, "because fishing was tough but my team worked really well together to tough it out and land some nice fish." His favorite spot to fish at other than our tournament lakes is Green Bay. Good luck in everything you will go on to do, we will miss you on the ice!

Senior Sendoff
Caden Jungbluth may be a 2023 Senior, but he isn't going to far from the team! Caden plans to return to UW-SP for his Masters in Natural Resources. His favorite species of fish is also the crappie. Caden's favorite tournament was at Shawano Lake. "We had a ton of fun (at Shawano) even though the fishing was subpar." We hope to see Caden this winter, and wish him all the best in receiving his Masters!

Senior Sendoff
Blake Bartels plans to attend the University of Arkansas, Monticello, this fall. This will be in collaboration with Five Oaks Agriculture and Recreation (foagrec)! Blake's favorite species of fish is the Crappie. His favorite fishing spot was Rib Lake, just Southeast of Westboro, WI. We wish you all of the best in your future schooling Blake, and we will miss you on the ice!
