With next week the start of the Fall/Winter Session and lots of inquiries coming my way. I figured I'd share some basic information that answers some of the Frequently Asked Questions I get.
About me and my TRGR Program: My name is Charlie Woida, I teach in the afternoon at Pacelli and then run all the teams after school strength program and then do my LLC work after all those things are taken care of. I run all of my groups out of the Pacelli Fitness Center. I run groups year round based on the sports season (fall, winter, spring, summer). I train the kids to be more athletic. We start with having fun at a young age and learn the basics. Then we learn how to train. Then we move on to training with a purpose. I have a level system I try to push the kids through.
Level 0 - ages 7-11, with no training background. This group is about learning the basics and having fun.
Level 0.5 – typically ages 9-11 with experience, we start learning more things and working a little harder
Level 1 - Learning how to train with a bar, typically 4th-6th graders with experience
Level 2 - Getting better with the bar and lifting more, typically 7th-9th graders
Level 3 - Usually HS kids who have a max set, estimated or actually done and we train
My Resume: I’ve been training athletes for the last 20 years, I was a GA at NDSU, 2 seasons with the San Diego Padres, 7 years at the University of Montana, 3 years at St. Olaf and now 6 years in the HS setting. Plus internships at IUPUI, Minnesota, South Dakota State, and Colorado State. This is what I’ve done as a career. I also played JUCO Football and Baseball for 2 years and then 2 years of DIV II Baseball.
Costs: during the school year I allow the groups to be drop in. Meaning, only pay for the sessions you attend. My summer camp is a set cost. $10/session for Pacelli students and $15/session for non-Pacelli students. Parents can pay cash or check (written out to “TRGR”). You can pay each time you come or put down a lump sum and I track attendance and will let you know when credit is low or out. As a newcomer it might be better to pay each time until you know your kid wants to continue with it consistently. It does help to put cash in an envelope with your name on it so I can keep payments separate and put towards the right person.
Where: Pacelli Fitness Center at the Pacelli High School, Enter the Gym Entrance, the bank of glass doors. The door with "ENTER HERE" on it should be unlocked at that time of day. Walk straight in and follow the signage to where you'll take a left just past the concession stand to get to the Fitness Center door. It's on the other side of the gym, compared to the parking lot.
How Long: The sessions last 1 hour, We try to finish each session for the little kids with a game, so sometimes we can go a little long as the kids don't want to leave.
Parent Options: Just know that as a parent you can watch, or if you'd like to use our cardio equipment or weights you can while your child works out. This way you are productive with your time, you see what your kids are doing and they get to watch you live a healthy lifestyle. Just know that that is an option. Or you can drop them off and come back later to pick them up.
Waiver Form: I need a waiver form signed. If you want to sign up, send me your email and I can send you the waiver or you can fill it out on your first time attending.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you would like to sign up or if you have any other questions.
