Remembering Loudoun Ice Centre friend Adam Comrie on his birthday.
Com the Bomb would always drop in, because he loved hockey and being around it.

I recall looking down at the rink from the mezzanine during a player camp to see Comrie in full Utica Comets gear playing with the kids. He dropped by and just couldn’t stay off the ice.

Perhaps the best story was the day he dropped in our previous facility and we were measuring the kids’ shot speed with a radar gun. Comrie with in a cast from a broken wrist at the end of the season. He could not just stand there and watch everyone taking shots on the radar gun and not participate.

I turn around and he is at the skate/work bench with a hacksaw cutting off his cast! I said, “Com, I think you should get the doctor’s office to cut off the cast to make sure you’re healed.” He was like, “No, it’s ready to go.”

He grabs a random lefty stick that was hanging around and he proceeded to fire a 93 mph slapper!

We couldn’t believe it. His wrist was completely immobile for weeks, he cuts off the cast, & fires a puck at 93 mph with someone else’s stick.

Truly amazing man and he is missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have known him.

Hockey lost a great one…
