Another good weekend of softball π₯ for our 8U Impact girls.
We finished the day 2-1-1, made it to the Gold Bracket, and eventually ran out of steam and into a really good team. It was a long day with plenty of waiting around, schedule changes, and even getting bumped off a field for another game, but these girls never stopped competing. They played their hearts out from the first pitch to the last.
π₯ Game 1 Dawg Chain: Sully
Sully came through with a huge, timely hit to help us tie the game when we needed it most.
π₯ Game 2 Dawg Chain: Caroline
Caroline delivered the hit that got our offense rolling and helped spark a team win.
π₯ Game 3 Dawg Chain: Arlie
Arlie was outstanding behind the plate, hustled all game long, and swung the bat well. In a true team-first moment, she decided on her own to share the chain with Emery after an incredible defensive play. Emery collided with a teammate (trying to be like her daddy π₯²), still held onto the catch, then got up and fired to first to complete a double play. It was a great team win and a great example of girls picking each other up.
π₯ Game 4 Dawg Chain: Kayla
The final chain of the day went to our anchor at first base. Unfortunately, Kayla will be shutting it down for the remainder of the summer due to injury, but she has been a huge part of everything weβve accomplished this season. Sheβs a competitor, incredibly coachable, and an outstanding teammate. This team wouldnβt be where it is without her. The good news is sheβll still be in the dugout cheering on her teammates during our final two tournaments.
We didnβt bring home any hardware this weekend, but Iβve said it for weeks now: these girls keep getting better every single time they step on the field. Thatβs what matters.
Go Impact! ππ₯π§‘
