As a custom rod builder, sensitivity is one of the most important factors I focus on when designing every rod. The more sensitive a rod is, the better you can detect subtle bites and react quickly to set the hook.
The rod pictured here is marketed as having an exposed blank reel seat. However, as you can see, the blank is actually covered by a sleeve before being fitted into the reel seat. While this may not seem like a big deal, that sleeve, along with the tape and adhesive underneath it, creates a barrier between your hand and the blank.
Why does that matter? Every layer between your hand and the blank reduces vibration transfer. Less vibration means less sensitivity, which can lead to missed bites and missed fish.
At NICO Fishing LLC, I build rods with sensitivity as a top priority. My goal is to maximize blank-to-hand contact whenever possible, allowing you to feel more bites, detect subtle changes in structure and bottom composition, and ultimately catch more fish.
When you invest in a custom rod, the details matter. Sensitivity matters. More bites felt = more fish caught.🎣😎
