Every parent has seen it.
A talented player trains hard, cares deeply, and wants to succeed. But as the game gets faster, pressure rises, expectations grow, and mistakes happen, the mental side of performance becomes just as important as the technical, tactical, and physical parts of the game.
That is why we are excited to welcome Joe Goodreau to the Peak Football Academy coaching staff as our Mental Performance Coach.
At PFA, we believe player development means developing the whole player. As our athletes prepare for college soccer and opportunities beyond high school, they need more than skill and fitness. They need tools to handle pressure, stay confident, recover from mistakes, lead themselves, and compete with consistency.
Joe created the Mindset Readiness Training system after seeing the same challenge repeatedly: committed athletes with talent and work ethic, but without a clear process for developing the mental side of their game.
Joe will work primarily with our U16-U19 players, with a strong focus on supporting our U19 squad as they prepare for the demands of college-level soccer. He will also work with our younger academy teams by introducing age-appropriate mental performance basics, including confidence, focus, emotional control, breathing habits, resilience, and staying present after mistakes.
With more than 90% of our players continuing to play beyond high school, we believe the mental side of the game is a critical part of preparing athletes for the next step.
Joe works with NCAA teams and student-athletes, holds his Mental Performance Mastery Level 2 certification, and is completing his degree in Sport and Performance Psychology at Grand Canyon University.
At Peak Football Academy, we are committed to helping players grow in sport, academics, and life.
Talent creates opportunities. Mindset helps players make the most of them.
Welcome to the coaching staff, Joe!
