Important and life-saving drills happened today on Peggotty Beach as the Town of Scituate Recreation Department held its annual life guard training. The drills included a missing person alert, water rescue and a radio communication guide. The training also included the Scituate Police Department, Scituate Fire Department, Scituate Fire Fighters Local 1464, and the Scituate Harbormaster Department.

FIFA World Cup fever has landed in Scituate! Today, the Scituate Sister City Cape Verde held its first watch party at the Mill Wharf Restaurant as Cape Verde took on Spain. This is Cape Verde's first ever World Cup game. The team shocked everyone after tying World Cup favorite Spain, 0-0. Cape Verde's next match is Sunday, June 21 against Uruguay.
