This weekend away from the field is about more than slowing down and enjoying time with family and friends. It’s also a time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Because of them, we are able to enjoy the game we love, make lasting memories, and spend meaningful time together.

Monday evening was a special gathering on our CCLA field, forever known as Brandon Champion Field. Westside gathered to officially recognize the new scoreboard dedicated to Brandon Champion and honor the life, spirit, and legacy of Brandon.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Brandon Champion Foundation and all of the generous supporters who helped make this project possible: Devincenzi Concrete, Madison Electric, Holly Construction, Rector Plumbing, Axia Architects, Black Iron Inc., and Sam Metz.

We were especially honored to have the Champion family here with us this evening and to continue with a special tradition, Brandon’s oldest son, Tyler Champion, threw out the nights ceremonial first pitch. We are grateful to the supporters who came out, thank you to Sebastopol Little League for joining us before the game against our Juniors Serpientes team. “Play Like A Champion”

On Sunday, Westside hosted the D35 Tournament Umpire Field Clinic. It was a full day and a huge thank you to Jessica Dominik, and her kids Peyton, Gage, & Killian Joy for all their time spent preparing & serving a delicious lunch for all the umpires who attended the clinic. This is our second year hosting and we hope to continue for many more years!

We are excited to invite you to join us for a very special occasion—the Brandon Champion Memorial Scoreboard Ceremony—on Monday, May 18th at Brandon Champion Field at Cesar Chavez Language Academy (CCLA), located at: 2480 Sebastopol Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95407.

For several years, this project has been a dream of Westside Little League, and we are incredibly proud to share that the installation of our brand new scoreboard is now complete. This field is home to our Westside 50/70 and Juniors teams, and this addition marks a meaningful milestone for our league.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Brandon Champion Foundation, Devincenzi Concrete, Madison Electric, Holly Construction, Rector Plumbing, Axia Architects, Black Iron Inc., and Sam Metz for helping bring this vision to life. Through their generosity—donating time, materials, and support—we were able to make this dream a reality. We are truly thankful for the belief and commitment shown by everyone involved.

This scoreboard is more than just an addition to the field—it stands as a lasting tribute and a meaningful symbol for our players, families, and the entire community.

The ceremony will take place at 5:00 PM, just prior to the Westside Juniors Serpientes game against the Sebastopol Juniors, which begins at 5:15 PM. This matchup holds special significance, as Brandon Champion played at Sebastopol Little League as a child and later coached his sons here at Westside. We are honored to have Brandon’s family joining us for this special moment.

Festivities will also include a taco truck, so come hungry and ready to celebrate!

We hope you can join us in celebrating this wonderful milestone for Westside Little League.
