It is with very heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news that Ron Champion, the father of our dear friend and longtime Westside Little League supporter Brandon Champion, passed away suddenly Monday evening. Following Brandon’s tragic passing in a motorcycle accident six years ago, the Brandon Champion Foundation has continued his legacy in an extraordinary way. Over the past six years, the Foundation has generously supported Westside Little League with thousands of dollars in scholarships, helping ensure that no child is ever turned away from playing baseball at Westside because of financial circumstances.

Earlier this year, the Foundation made an incredible $40,000 contribution toward the new scoreboard installed on Brandon Champion Field at CCLA. We are incredibly grateful that we were able to complete and dedicate this special memorial to Brandon before Ron’s passing. It is a lasting reminder of Brandon’s love for the game, his family, and the children of our community.

We are heartbroken that the Champion family has been asked to endure another devastating loss. Today, we ask our Westside community to come together and honor Ron and the Champion family.

For teams playing today on Brandon Champion Field at CCLA, please have both teams line up along the baselines before the game. We ask that everyone recite the Little League Pledge together and then observe a moment of silence in memory and honor of Ron.

And for all of our other Westside teams playing on various fields throughout Santa Rosa today, if you could please pay your respects to Ron and the Champion family in the same way, that would be wonderful.

Thank you and our heartfelt condolences to the Champion family and friends.
