New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives Headquartered in Santa Fe, the NMREC represents the interest of the state's electric cooperatives.

Organized in 1944 and headquartered in Santa Fe, NMRECA represents the interest of the state's electric cooperatives and their members through legislative and regulatory representation, and public affairs. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. ⚡

Today, safety coordinators and cooperative employees from across New Mexico are taking part in the 2026 NMRESIF/OAEC Safety Coordinators Conference in Albuquerque.

The conference is focused on strengthening the culture of safety across our electric cooperatives through education, collaboration, and shared best practices. Topics include accident investigation, contractor management, safety trends, claims, regulatory updates, and practical ways to reduce risk in the workplace.

Through the New Mexico Rural Electric Self-Insurers Fund (NMRESIF), participating cooperatives insure themselves collectively, making strong safety practices important not only for protecting employees, but also for helping reduce claims and control insurance costs across the group.

Thank you to the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC) for helping host this year’s conference and to all of the speakers and attendees committed to making safety part of every job, every day.

NMRECA is proud to bring cooperative directors together for the 2026 NMRECA Directors Training in Albuquerque.

Today’s training is focused on helping directors continue building the knowledge and skills needed to serve their cooperatives effectively—from strategic planning and long-term organizational priorities to CEO evaluation, accountability, and strong board leadership.

Continuous education is an important part of cooperative governance, helping directors make informed decisions and better serve the members and communities they represent.
