She's baaaack!!

Our racing star Rebecca Schmitt was back in action for her first race since finishing as the top American in the Berlin Marathon in September. She won the ABQ Running Fiesta 5k in Albuquerque yesterday in 16:56, finishing over 4 minutes ahead of her nearest female competitor, and second overall behind only one male runner. 🌟💫🥇

It's proof that Rebecca's not only got the endurance for the marathon; she's got the wheels for the short races too! Next weekend she'll be dropping down to far lower elevation in Indianapolis to race the Indianapolis Monumental 5k. There, she'll take a crack at breaking the 16:00 minute barrier; a very elite time on the roads.

Great work Rebecca! Back to your winning ways!! 😊💪🏆

We're excited to announce our newest event: Poets On the Run with Michelle Holland!

Join us Sunday, December 6th as we host avid area runner and poet Michelle Holland here at The Running Hub for a running poetry reading! This is a FREE event-open to the whole community-but we ask that participants still register through the link below so that we can get a better handle on numbers.

Michelle competes at a very high level of the sport in masters (over 40) athletics, and was a part of our High Desert Half Marathon Training Group this year. She has also written poetry for many years on all sorts of themes and topics, including running!

She'll be previewing her upcoming poetry book "Circe at the Laundromat", which will be released March 2nd and is now available for presale.

Michelle will delve into a number of running-related poems and narratives, exploring experiences that many runners will be able to relate to, and as an extended metaphor of our lives. She will also open the reading up to audience questions and comments and invite anyone who wants to share their own "running" poem/narrative!

Before the reading, there will be an optional 3-mile group run starting at 2:30 p.m. The reading will start at 3:15 p.m. If you would like to only attend the reading, you're welcome to show up then!

Our training groups are always filled with perks and discounts, and the upcoming Sandia Spring Marathon Training Group will be no different!

If you're interested in the group and also planning on running our inaugural Holiday Hustle 5k on December 12th, Sandia Spring Marathon Training Group athletes receive a $5 discount! It will be a great "opener" race for the training plan that starts just a couple weeks later.

The Sandia Spring Marathon Training Group is all new for 2027. It will meet for in-person practices in the Rio Rancho and the northwest Albuquerque area, and runs 14 weeks from Dec 28th 2026 to April 3rd, 2027. It prepares runners for either the full or half marathon distance at the Albuquerque Marathon on April 3rd, or another fine spring race. It is for runners of all levels; from first-time marathoners and half marathoners all the way to advanced racers.
